View Full Version : Survivor II: The Australian Outback

Over at the tennis forum, they tried keeping a thread going on for two weeks for the Australian Open. I'm trying to outbeat that AND the popular "let's play a game" thread by keeping this going on for... well... a REALLY long time! :)

Tomorrow, right after the Super Bowl, Surivor II: The Australian Outback primeries on CBS.

What's everyone's pre-series predictions?

Behold, a CANADIAN (well, he went to grade and high school in Canada), Kel Gleason, is a 6-1 and a 4-1 favorite to take home the big prize by two Vegas casinos, the Sahara and the Stardust, respectively.... well, you can't argue with that!

Somehow, I have a feeling that Tina Wesson will do well, and Elisabeth and Amber will replace Colleen and Jenna and be contending for a while.

My pick for the final four are this: Kel, Tina, Debb Eaton, and Mitchell Olson.

If you want to play a game where you predict who will be voted off each week, do the following...:

1. click here (http://doritosfantasy.survivor.smallworld.com/dual_login.html)
2. Click "Register for FREE Now" on the left
3. Enter in your information and click "Register Now" when completed
4. On the next page, click option #2, "User-Created Tribe"
5. Type SportsCentral in the search box on the next page and hit "Search"
6. Click the link *SportsCentral that appears on the next page
7. You will see all the members currently in the "tribe" on the next page... I am one (SC-Lee)... click the option "Yes" to verify this is correct
8. Type in the password scboards and hit "Join SportsCentral"
9. Success!... read the rules & help sections for exact information on how to play... basically, what you do is choose three memebers and you get points based on how they do in the real show.

For me, Survivor is starting off in a sour note. It is starting a 10 PM - just a little too late when you have to get up at 6 the next morning. Oh well...

Spike

Sorry to hear it, Marc.

Yeah, 10 p.m. is kind of late for a popular show. I'm sure glad I live on the West Coast so I get to see it around 7 p.m.

lmanchur.
01-28-2001, 08:15 AM
Well, Marc, you can always tape it!... even though the recordable-DVDs aren't out yet, there is always the "old fashioned" VCR!!

So now that that problem is solved, does anyone have predictions?

Wedge231

I really don't plan on watching this show. I didn't even like the first one....

Marc
01-28-2001, 01:08 PM
I'm not even sure if I'll be able to watch this one, either. The difference between the new Survivor and the old one is the old one was in the summer - when I had a lot more time on my hands.

Lee, how are we supposed to pick who is going to win? Am I the only one who won't even know who is participating until it actually starts?

iFroggy

I'll probably join up. I know nothing about it, I know no one in it, I know nothing about them and I won't be watching the show. So, no your not the only one. :) lol

When you have registered and signed up by following my instructions in the first post in this thread, you login using your user name & password.

On the left sidebar, you click "Pick My Survivors." What you have to do is choose three of the sixteen contestants (you can see everyone's profiles by clicking on their names) that will make up your roster (you can change this as many times throughout the game as you like), and you will get (or be deducted) points based on the following:

Immunity Challenge won: +50 PTS
Reward Challenge won: +25 PTS
Voted Off: -100 PTS
Times Survived: 75

...the one of us with the most points at the end of it all gets bragging rights ;)

No, I was talking about in general, how are we supposed to make predictions for who's going to win before it even starts?

Read the profiles... see if you like them or not just by reading about them... or else you could've been watching E!Now or Entertainment Tonight or shows like that so you could actually hear them talk.... too late for that now!... just pick them off the top of your head... who knows -- you may get lucky!... Hurry, though!... the time is ticking away.......

tick toc tick toc tick toc tick toc....

Well, the marathon to one lone survivor is underway.

Debb was the first voted off. Weird, 'cuz she seemed to be a lot like Susan from Survivor I (a "tough" job). However, her personality kept her apart from joining the rest of the group, so... too bad for her!

Anyone else have opinions on the first episode?

I found it weird that they couldn't talk to each other on the plane, and how the Ogakor tribe bonded so well to win the first immunity challenge.

I think the guy who kept getting sick will be voted off next. I liked the show, but I hope it doesn't lose interest like Big Brother *shiver* did.

What did everyone else think?

I didn't know that there WAS interest in Big Brother to begin with! ;) ...that show STUNK.... just my opinion! :)

...I think "that guy that kept getting sick" (Jeff, was it?) won't be voted off next and shouldn't have been voted off, although he was quite vulnerable last night.... sure, he was sick, but he tried to contribute and his personality kept him in the game... that's what it's all about.

I personally think that jeff will be the next person voted off by the kucha tribe. i would like to say, that, because im from texas, i hope colby wins i live about an hour away from christoval and it would be great to see him win. Also elisabeth and Kimmi are pretty fine.

The second episode is tonight! Who is watching? I'm probably going to.

02-01-2001, 05:39 PM
i will definitely be watching. i love the first survivor so i know this one can only get better. i'm pullin for the ogakor tribe to lose today so the teams will be a little even.

Spike
02-01-2001, 05:49 PM
Yeah I'll be watching tonight. It should be an interesting night. Tonight, is is the first time that "Survivor" goes against "Friends" so it'll be fun to see who wins this ratings showdown.

And about the first episode, I'm glad Debb got kicked off. She really has an annoying personality and I've heard on the various media outlets she's been on after Sunday she's still quite bitter. But 7 to 1, voted off, so I can't be the only one who thought she was quite annoying.

lmanchur.
02-01-2001, 06:16 PM
...about the 7-to-1.... the only person who didn't vote Debb off last time was Debb herself, as it is against the rules to vote for yourself!... she voted Jeff off.

Yes, I'll definitley be watching. Luckily, if you're like me and like BOTH Friends and Survivor, than you can watch both IF:

1) You have a dish and get something like CBS Detroit and CBS Spokane like me -- that way, they air at different times because of the time zone differences
2) If you live in Canada and don't have a dish, than you can watch Friends and Survivor back-to-back on Global! :)

My predictions for today?... well, originally it was Rodger, but the guys on Survivor message boards who have nothing better to do than study three seconds of video footage from episodes 2 and 3 from commercials, and study the CBS Survivor web site and such are overwhelmingly predicting Kel (Vegas' 4-to-1 favorites) to get booted this week.

Spike
02-01-2001, 06:35 PM
Yeah actually I don't watch "Friends" but if I did, I'd have that option too. Because here in the Sacramento area C.B.S. shows all the primetime programs one hour earlier so "Survivor" starts at 7 instead of 8 p.m. so you can add "C.B.S. Sacramento" to "C.B.S. Spokane" and "C.B.S. Detroit" if you have the dish.

Suprisingly enough, I watched the first episode! And I wanted that Debb lady voted off, I didn't like her at all. :)

Episode II is complete... it was really interesting.

Too bad Rodger couldn't swim or else Kucha would have at least had a chance... and Kimmi!?... I was hoping Kucha would lose the immunity challenge so they could get her off the team!

Well, I guess I learned a tip: don't play Vegas. Kel was the second voted off the island today, first for Ogakor! Oh well!

I think, though, Kel's departure was 'cuz of Jerri... she was probably lieing -- trying to get an edge. Bah!... oh well!

Overall, it was an OK episode.... did you see that one old lady's comment, "Kel, if we saw you dying in the street of thirst, we'd all definitley give you a drink of water." Ha ha!... I thought that was halarious... let me think... where have I heard THAT before!? :)

Actually, I'm glad Kimmi stayed. I like her. She has the best bod on the island. :) I was rooting hard against Tina to lose that tie-breaking round in the bug eating competition.

Well, I guess I learned a tip: don't play Vegas. Kel was the second voted off the island today, first for Ogakor! Oh well!

Yeah, in case it wasn't said before those Vegas odds are just for "show". You can't really bet any money if you went there because casinos usually don't let you put money on entertainment-type shows like this one and I can't imagine anybody organizing a big betting set up on something where the results were finished 2 months ago.

I think, though, Kel's departure was 'cuz of Jerri... she was probably lieing -- trying to get an edge. Bah!... oh well!

Yeah that was mean. But conniving and lying to get ahead. She learned from watching the first Survivor.

Week one of the big ratings showdown between "Friends" and "Survivor" is over. The numbers are in and "Survivor" wins!

1) Survivor, 29 million viewers
2) E.R., 27 million viewers
3) Friends, 21 million viewers

Go Survivor! Hehe.

So "Mad Dog" Maralyn got kicked off tonight. Anybody with any thoughts on it?

The only reason that Ogakor had a chance to win that immunity challenge at the end was because that other old guy in the other tribe (Rodger) stumbled twice. If it wasn't for him, Kucha would have won this challenge going away.

lmanchur.
02-09-2001, 08:30 AM
I would rather they have voted Jerri off. It seems like she's subtley (sp?) taking control of the tribe, and I very much hate her!

That episode was kind of boring, I thought, but did anyone see next week's previews!... all that gory blood!... hide the children's eyes! :) ...I guess Michael got his pig... or something... ????

Shucks, I had this week's edition of Survivor taped, at least I thought so, but it taped the wrong channel. :(

Spike
02-09-2001, 05:27 PM
Yeah, I've done that many a time too, taped the wrong channel. It's a bummer.

Actually during the last "Survivor" last Summer, I taped most of them and planned to watch it later but found out that was a really bad way to go because the show is so popular that somebody somewhere would spoil for me who got voted off before I got a chance to watch the tape. So I'm trying to watch every one live this time around.

Wow!... anyone see episode 4!?... wow!... possibly the best episode EVER (...*almost* better than Susan's speech).

Boy, Ogakor is really struggling. Isn't that three straight losses in the challenges, now!?... Owch -- that's gotta hurt.

I hope Jerri goes off soon 'cuz she's really annoying me!

...and how about that pig!?... cool!... I was quite impressed that he could run down a pig... but for Kimmy... geez... I don't understand vegetarians... like, if they want to eat meat, let them! -- it won't be your fault if you're starving the rest of the way and everyone is eating first class! (well, first class for being stranded on the Outback!).

Right now, it doesn't seem like Kucha will lose, but if they do, I think Kimmi should be the first to go!

Yup, that's 3 straight. As Jeff Probst related at Tribal Council last night, Colby said, "Kucha's kicking our ass".

I hope Jerri goes off soon 'cuz she's really annoying me!

Yeah, you might get your wish the next time Ogakor loses immunity (whether it be next week or whenever), Jerri will probably be gone. It's all up to Colby. He's the swing vote. Because next week I can see Amber and Jerri voting for the chef Keith (I kind of like him. He's pretty cool) and Keith and Tina voting for Jerri. Right now it looks like Colby's with Keith and Tina, so probably bye bye Jerri.

...and how about that pig!?... cool!... I was quite impressed that he could run down a pig

Yup that was pretty cool. Although, I think Michael (I think his name is?) is a little nutty. He put the pig's blood on his face. Talk about "Lord of the Flies".

... but for Kimmy... geez... I don't understand vegetarians... like, if they want to eat meat, let them! -- it won't be your fault if you're starving the rest of the way and everyone is eating first class! (well, first class for being stranded on the Outback!).

Yeah, I love meat so sometimes I don't care too much for vegetarians. Kimmi should just be quiet in that regard and let them have their meat (pigs, chicken, whatever).

However, I really like Kimmi because she has the best body on the island and she doesn't really annoy me like other people are annoyed with her. I'd like to see her win it all, but that is a pretty remote possibility if you made me bet on it.

If Kucha loses the next Immunity Challenge, I think either the old dude, Rodger should be voted off because he's just dead weight. He almost cost them the Immunity Challenge last week by falling down twice.

Or Alicia. I can't stand Alicia. She annoys me quite a bit. All she does is flex her muscles and she's not very good looking. The less clothes she has on, the worse she looks. Way too muscular. And she looks like the kind of person I wouldn't want to meet in a dark alley. I'd love it if she got voted off. A little part of me was wishing she had missed that last tie-breaking question in the Immunity Challenge so she would have really been embarrassed about missing what? 3 questions in that challenge?

Watched this episode last night - it was pretty good, alright. The Tribal Council Meeting was really nerve-racking when it when into double-overtime. :)

What do you guys think of the fire? Will it affect anything? It may be good because it brings animals from the Outback near the camp, let's just hope it doesn't get to the campsite, though!

Yeah, Elisabeth is cute. Amber is gorgeous though. She's got a very sweet looking face. She doesn't get enough camera time if you ask me. She could be in trouble though if she stays with Jerri and Ogakor keeps on losing these Immunity Challenges. If that keeps on happening, she might not make it to when the tribes have their merger.

I heard a rumor that since that pig came out of nowhere and it didn't look really wild that that pig could have been planted by the "Survivor" production people and at least that part was fixed? What do you guys think of that?

I personally don't think C.B.S. would have anything to gain by doing that because there was already chickens there for them to show being killed and "Survivor" is so big now that everything is under scrutiny so much, why risk any kind of potential scandal by "fixing" anything.

Yeah that's probably why they saw the pig. The fire pushed it to Ogakor's camp. Who knows, maybe we could see them kill more animals for eating in the future because of the fire.

...pretty good episode... I'm glad Kimmi got the boot.. I think Alicia is definitley a bigger asset to Kucha, but, ultamitley, probably the biggest threat to win the million out of the girls on Kucha.

Ogakor finally won... wow... I was surprised!... it was about time... they had lost 4 straight challenges and 5 of the last 6, right?... or something like that?... I hope they don't catch on fire 'cuz I like the Kucha tribe better! :)

...just one more episode until they merge!... and did anyone see the previews!?.. all I can say is double-you, oh, double-you: WOW!!!... does someone die, or what!?... what happens in that situation!?... the rules on the CBS.com Survivor web site don't explain anything about that situation...

..each episode, it seems, is better than the last!!!... I sure can't wait until Thursday!!!!!

lmanchur.
02-26-2001, 08:33 AM
...one person on these boards speculated that Alicia was the one who got injured on March 1's episode... possibly by an alligator.

...I have heard that Michael came home with a lot of scares, so he could possibly it.

...another web site speculated that although Rodger was consoling Elisabeth in the previews for the upcoming episode, he could have been the victim as he does not swim, and CBS could have showed him consoling her AFTER he got back.

All sources have valid reasons for predicting who was the victim of the disaster... the fact is, though, that CBS is the best network at keeping secrets!

Who does everyone think is the victim of March 1's episode of Survivor II: The Australian Outback?

Spike
03-02-2001, 05:52 PM
So what did you guys think about the episode last night? Michael got burned. That was kind of hectic. That just indirectly saved Ogakor who, if they had lost the immunity challenge last night would have most certainly have been picked off one-by-one once the tribes merged.

Next week's tribal council should be interesting. I imagine Michael's accident would have brought Kucha closer together if they weren't that close before. So if Ogakor's smart, despite their in-fighting they'll vote along alliance lines. So I'm looking forward to a 5-to-5 vote next week at tribal council with the merged tribes.

Here come the tie-breakers. First tie-breaker: everybody votes again except the people in the tie. So I imagine we'll get another tie, 4 to 4. 2nd tie-breaker: past voting history of the two people in the tie-breaker which neither tribe can use to their advantage because neither Ogakor or Kucha know who voted for who in the other tribes before the merge.

This next episode might be the best yet.

I wonder what the immunity challenge was GOING to be... it would suck for the people having to put that together (the maze one two weeks ago took two weeks to build!)

Yeah... I was thinking about the tiebreakers... could be very, very interesting.

Here's what will happen if the 2nd tiebreaker is used:

Jeff has 2 votes against Jerri has 2 votes against Keith has 2 votes against Everyone else has ZERO votes against

So now the question is... what happens if both of the people in the deadlock are one of the 7 people that have zero votes against!?.... I would like to see what would happen in that situation!!

Yeah interesting thing there so if I'm one of the Kucha members I have all my people vote for Keith or all my people vote for Jerri. If I'm one of the Ogakor members I have all my people vote for Jeff. The problem, the big problem is you don't know who voted for who in the other tribe because you weren't at their tribal councils.

So if I'm an Ogakor person, I try to isolate and pretend to buddy up with some of the Kucha members and see who they hate the most on their tribe that's left and then gamble and vote for that person and vice-versa if I'm a Kucha person.

Here's a little advantage for Ogakor though. Since they already participated in a tie-breaking vote in a tribal council, they know what the 2nd tie-breaker is. Kucha's never had a tie in their tribal council so they might not have a clue that the 2nd tie-breaker is past voting history.

True, true... interesting... however, I'm sure everyone read the rules of the game before they signed the contract to play... (yeah right!)

Look at this "interesting stat" (if you can consider it interesting) from a popular Survivor web site:

"Dalby's Unofficial Grand Total of times that the term "Oh My God" was said in Week Six: 29

0 - Rodger, Keith, and Tina
1 - Alicia, Nick, and Colby
2 - Mike and Jeff
5 - Elizabeth
6 - Jerri
11 - Amber"

What's up Lee.

I am a huge fan of Survivor- don't miss an episode!

My picks for Final 4 are definitly Elisabeth (how hot is she? And from my home state!), the guy from Ogakor whos name escapes me now (not Keith), Jeff (would have been Mike if he didn't leave), and Alicia. That's 3-1 in favor of Kucha.

Anyway, Mike's burns were bad, huh? The skin was coming off his hands.

At this point, I am sure Alicia will make the final four.... not sure about the other three spots, though... it will all depend on the first Tribal Council vote in the next episode, because that means that one tribe is head 5 players to 4.

Well, the merge was kind of uneventful.... execpt that they moved to NEITHER the Kucha OR Ogakor camp, as the media previews had predicted.

The immunity challenge was done in the original Survivor, so that was old -- except that I don't think anyone on the original Survivor lasted almost 11 hours.

One thing I found interesting is what Jeff said in his "final words":

Jeff Varner's final words:
I told those guys early on that because of the very large mouth of a former tribe member at Kucha, Ogakor knew I had that vote.

Who was it?... was this before or after or during the merge? Does anyone have info on this "fomer tribe member at Kucha?"

SC-Jared

I heard that too. It had to slip out, because there aren't any "Kimmi's" (big mouths) in Kucha....

Anyone see Survivor on Thursday??

I'm glad that Jerri was FINALLY booted. Only Amber and Jerri voted for Elisabeth, but all Jerri needed to get booted was 4 votes, because that would have sent it into a tiebreaker if Liz also got 4 votes, and Jerri had a lot of votes cast against her before.

Anyway, I'm glad she's gone, but now the focus shifts to next week... there's a lot of speculation if the Survivors are offered more rice, but the result will be no Immunity Challenge... well, that is the speculation... no one knows for sure... CBS & Mark Burnett have done TOO good of a job at protecting the Survivor secret!!!

Express your thoughts on Episode 9 (?) and the upcoming episodes here!

Marc

I think unless Nick wins the next Immunity Challenge, he will be voted off. He would have been this time if he didn't win it. The other possiblity in my mind is Elisabeth (please don't, she's my favorite!). :)

lmanchur.
03-31-2001, 04:06 PM
I don't see Elisabeth being voted out again... I don't want to spoil it for anyone, but there are PURELY RUMORS around that has 'Liz and Amber being the final two... again, these are just pure rumors, but whatever....

...I think Keith or Colby will be voted out next... how?... I think Amber will join the Kucha members and vote out one of those two... definitely the strongest in the tribe.

...you should see some of the people on Survivor message boards I've visited!... they practically STUDY the show... one guy studied the opening credits and wrote about 4 screens on it, and how it predicts the final four!

I feel sorry for people like that who have no life :)
