Who'd have thought?
All you heard over the summer was:
* Allen Iverson and Larry Brown hate each other
* The team has done NOTHING to improve from last year
* This team is filled with too many role players and not enough scorers
* Allen Iverson hogs the ball too much
* They keep trading away all their first round draft picks and not giving them a chance
Plus:
* Starting center Matt Geiger is starting the season on the IR
* 1st round pick Speedy Claxton is out for the year with an injury
And now they are 6-0, the league's only undefeated team at this moment. And it hasn't been an easy schedule, as they have wins over NY, Miami, Orlando, Minnesota, and others. How are they winning? Defense. Defense. Defense. Currently, they have arguable the best defense in the league, giving up the second lowest point total to opposing teams, and holding them to the lowest FG%. And while Iverson leads his team scoring, others like PG Eric Snow have stepped up and are having monster years so far on the offensive end.
Does anybody think that they've been a fluke so far, or are they going to be the real deal in the East this year?
*** Note -- as I write this, the Sixers are losing 40-35 at halftime to the Celtics. Will they remain undefeated???
