Tell us how you first found the boards. Was it through a link? A search engine? A friend? This should be interesting. :)

Yeah, Nick, my old friend from when I lived in Columbus, OH, is referring to when I used to talk about SC back even then, when I first got off the ground with this stuff.
It seems the common theme here is me. But, all that matters is you're all here. :) Now that most of the regulars have posted, some of you lesser-knowns tell us how you got here.

I'm sure there are... difference is that most of people who I referred who are my friends posted, those who found it other ways, some of the less active posters, haven't added their thoughts yet.
As a matter of fact, I only knew four or five people who post here and a lot of the posters I met from posting here. So we all act like friends because we met each other here. :)

Well, after writing an article and checking it out on Sports Central. I saw this Message Boards link and clicked it. Didn't like it at first, so I quit, then Marc encouraged me to start posting again.

Yeah, with the slowdown in Internet related advertising they brought out the big ads. :) However you can get them all taken out for like $5 I believe.

Yeah, that was before VBulletin, it wasn't the prettiest. But I've never been much of a message board guy. It's kinda grown on me since then though.

Two years, maybe? We were on Boardhost first, then ezboard, and finally, vBulletin.
Believe it or not, Nate and I still have screen shots of old SC designs. Maybe I'll start a new Lounge thread called "A trip down memory lane..." when I get some time. :)

Ha, I was a youngster looking for some NBA talk, when I found SC.
I'm a member on quite a few vB boards.
Computer Boards
(Tech Help, Webdesign, Windows etc.)
Gaming Boards.
So then I was looking for a good Sports fan base board on Vbulletinsites (www.vbulletinsites.com). I had looked around all of them and SC was my pick because of the good display and fan base here. Moderaters here are very fair unlike alot of other places I go. The knowledge base here is awesome, In every forum. I became a SC Addict myself then :cool:

I was invited to the boards quite a while ago. I had some difficulty registering (my machine kept kicking me out of the site), but it has been worth it. The discussions here are good-natured and, although sometimes there are disagreements, nothing too personal is brought up.

I was registered in some other message boards, but they sucked so I was looking for another one and SCMB came up.
SCMB is about 4 times bigger and has a lot more member than the other message boards I was on.

After having grown disenchanted with another discussion board network that had become engulfed in cyberflames during the playoffs last summer, I was looking for another board to post at in addition to another board which I co-moderate ...
It took several months and I was about to give up my search last night ... and then, I found SC. :)
Is it true that the best things are discovered by accident? Or, that they are found when it is not expected that they would be found? :D

I found it through a search engine..I think google.com. I was looking for an active sports message board, the key word being active. I have been around to some that have literally two people talking back and forth, and that is it. I like the fact that all sports are covered and there are even a few other message boards included as well.

I found it because I've been a sports central writer for several months, and a couple weeks ago Marc encouraged me to check the boards out. I'm glad I did. All the other sports boards I've seen are unmoderated, and ugh, what a difference that makes. It is nothing but people graphically insulting each other and no actual "sports talk".

well i wanted to join espn.com's message boards. i used to be a member when i was all into the penguin trade rumors(back when the pens were actualy good.) i was in study hall and felt like talking sports. so espn.com wouldnt let me cause i had a yahoo e-mail adress and then when i put in my aol e-mail adress it still didnt work. so i decided to look for a message board that was all sports and more general than espn. I searched on google and one thing lead to another and i found this place. then in study hall i would go on and read the boards. then i joined posted alot. then skewl ended and i didn't post for like a month and here i am now trying to stay active again because i have nothing beter to do in my summer than talk sports with people i dont even know

Same as me, but I yahoo'd it...
I used to go to CBS.sportsline.com and discuss but the boards but they would always lock up. Plus, there were a lot of immature people there too. It wasn't "real sports talk". Have you ever read an article in the Yahoo.com headlines and gone to "discuss"... it's a joke, its just of bunch of kids making immature or racist comments - sportsline was pretty much the same thing. All it really is is fans "shat" talking, no real debates.

One of the other reasons I came over is Cubfan4real's avatars. I miss the girl in the pool.

I just stumbled across it from a Yahoo search and decided to join.
I was on a fishing boat, fishing for king crab just off the coast of Dutch Harbor. You know some call what I do the world's deadliest Catch, anyway, the north winds were howling out of the south and I hate to tell you what the east winds were doing. I was getting sea sick so I went to the latrine. As I was sitting there, I notice the web site written on the door. That's my story, and IM sticking to it. BTW, I got the crabs that fatefull season. And I'll never forget my time on that boat.
