League info:

Currently set up for 12 teams -- will expand/collapse as appropriate
LIVE draft currently set for Monday, August 26 at 5:55 PM Central time (6:55 PM Eastern, 4:55 PM Mountain, 3:55 PM Pacific)
Check out the scoring rules and give me suggestions on how to edit them to play to everyone's likings.

One thing I haven't figured out yet is "award points on team bye weeks." Can someone more clearly explain that option to me???

Playoffs will be weeks 15, 16, and 17. It will be an 8 team playoff with no consolation bracket.

I have a feeling I should try this -- not sure how it works exactly, though. If someone could give me a short overview of how this is played, then I might join.

Ok, Lee have played yahoo fantasy leagues for 2 years previous to this one, and If you have an even amount of teams like 12 then no player will have a bye week at all any time during the season. The only time you run into having a bye week is when you have an odd number of teams like 11.... so 10 or 12 will do.

I have joined your league under the name of Touchdown_Titans, and am looking forward to having fun with this. I am very glad you are having a live draft and not one that picks our team for us.....that is much much better, and it also makes it fun talking with everyone as your selecting your team.

Ok, I must tell about the scoring you have set though Lee...there are only 2 things I disagree with
1. It is gonna be really hard to (-5) per sack because if you do that some of the players may end up with under 10 or 20 points due to their qb getting sacked 8 times and that is a reduction of 40 points....if anything have each sack on your quarterback be (-1) point so that this league can have decent scores and not be a low scoring league. And every league I have played in on here has never had subtracting points for your qb getting sacked... but it is interesting.

2. Giving 5 points per sack that a team makes is too high as well if you don't mind me saying. In each league I have played in Sacks for defense have counted 2 points per sack.

So, the only thing I disagree with is the Sacks on qb being subtracted so much and the Sacks for Defense counting so much....but I am sure others will have different opinions.

And hey Air Canada you should join....you get to pick your own players at each of the skilled positions in which you think can score the most points and do the best in games for the season and you should go to the league page to get an overview of what this league consists of. Lee set it up to do a live draft like how they do on draft day in the NFL and then it is fun competing against others with your team to see who comes out on top. And at the end of the season there are playoffs to see who the league champ is.

Well, you shouldn't get a quarterback that gets sacked so much!! 8 times in one game you deserve negative points IMO!!!! ;)

BUT, I changed the Y! defaults for scoring: QB: 25 yards per point instead of 50.... 10 yards per point for rushing instead of 20.... 12 points for a shutout instead of like 7..... I also eliminated negative points for the DEF allowing more than 35 in a game.

OK so let's pose these questions:

1) What does everyone else think of the sack stat regarding points awarded
2) Should the playoff format be changed to a 4-team championship bracket?
3) I know there won't be bye- weeks if there are even teams, but I still want to understand that option 'cuz it makes zero sense.
4) Don't worry -- draft order will be randomized once the number of teams is set and everyone is joined

Ok, Lee this is how bye points are awarded. When you in a head to head league like you have selected.... (which is the best way to do it by the way).....then when there are and odd number of teams everyone will eventually have a bye week. Having a bye week means that you won't play head to head against anyone but they will still tally up points as if you were playing. The reason why they talley up points is because each weeks scores are added on to the total amount of points you have had all season from week 1 till week 15. And if two teams have a 10-4 record head to head and are gunning for first place then the total amount of points scored during the season determines the winner. The playoffs are determined by head to head wins, but in case of tiebreakers and to see who gets in the playoffs points are kept all during the season and talleyed up together to get a final season point score.

And it is fun to see who has scored the most points total at the end of the season. I have seen many players have the most points in a particular league and not be #1 because they have lost more head to head battles than someone who has a lesser total season score.

And I think 4 teams should be in a championship bracket....but it would make it more fun and give more players a chance if you made it an 8 team playoff system. I have seen the #8 seed win it all....I was a #1 seed and was defeated by him in the first round by one point that season. So, it makes it interesting.... and whoever's team is hot during the playoffs wins....and in many cases the player who has led all season loses in the playoffs in a win or die playoff system. But I like the 4 team better.

And it is fine that you award teams for getting sacks and that you take away points for your qb getting sacked but 5 points is an awful lot to take away from your qb each time he gets sacked. I mean there were 3 games last season with 8 to 10 sacks last year that I remember if not more.

My feelings on the sack issue:

Personally I like the 2 pts. better for a defensive sack, but it doesn't really matter that much to me.

However, I don't like the 5 pts. lost when your QB gets sacked. To me, that's saying you need to draft a QB on not only his performance, but also his offensive line's performance, since the QB isn't solely responsible for being sacked.

Join up and you'll learn as you go along. This is a head-2-head fantasy league. We will have a live draft of all the NFL players to build your team. Then, you compete in weekly games based on the real life performances of the NFL players on your team. You are awarded points based on your players' performances which are compared to the fantasy points of your opponent that week. Whoever has more points that week wins the game. Whoever wins the most games and is in the top 8 in the standings play in a 3-week playoff to determine the ultimate SCML Fantasy Football Champion for the 2003 season.

Marc

The last thing I have to say in this e-mail is that I do not know who the team is titled "magman1621" with the GM having a Y!ID of "brmagerr." If someone knows who that is, please give him his e-mail address and forward him this e-mail. Thank you.

Have a good season and see you Monday at the draft,

Me neither. 1-1. Scored very well last week. I've got some holes in my team, but I can't complain too much.

Well, we're into the postseason next week. Woo hoo!!!! Spot #4 for me. I'm pleased with that, though if Garcia had had even a little better week, I'd be #3 right now. That's OK -- #4 is fine 'cuz I get to beat Marc in the finals rather than in the quarter-finals ;)

Brandon

SCML Managers;

Well, only 1 game is in question this week on Monday night, and that is for 7th place... and even that is only if Mike Alstott has one hell of a night and scores over 32 fantasy points for the Gridiron Hounds.

Here are this years final standings:

1. The Chumps (10-6, win championship game 104.58-81.24)
2. GJ Sould Generals (13-3, lose championship game 81.24-104.58)
3. *Winnipeg Blue Bombers (12-5, win consolation game 107.60-78.22)

7. **Americas Team (11-5, win 7th-place game 93.18-57.96)
8. **Gridiron Hounds (6-10, lose 7th-place game 57.96-93.18)

Marc
12-24-2002, 10:58 AM
Actually, the Y! site said the GJ Soul Generals won, not The Chumps, I believe. GJ is No. 1 in the standings and the league champion.

I would of won this if my players had stayed healthy ... losing your QB and RB to injury in the stretch is fantasy suicide. Next year I will get revenge.

lmanchur.
12-24-2002, 01:13 PM
The Chumps were in the lead yesterday. I thought neither team had a player playing Monday night but apparently the Generals did -- the Pittsburgh defense had like over 30 fantasy points and won it for the Generals.

And Marc, you made a lopsided trade for a Top10 quarterback in the final week of the season. I beat you twice this year and my team just rules, admit it.
