Guess what basketball fans ... hell has frozen over ... I just saw some pigs fly ... David just killed Goliath, the fat lady just sung, and the so-called horrible East squad defeated their Western counterparts.

The Rulon Gardner story of the Olympics has now made it to the NBA All-Star game, as the East pulled out a seemingly impossible 111-110 victory over the "unstoppable" giants of the West.

Let me try to put this great game in perspective for those who missed it. The game started off HORRIBLE for the East, who quickly fell behind 11-0 and 15-2. Believe it or not, I actually was seeing some real defense by BOTH teams ... and nonetheless during an all-star game. By half-time, the East began to claw back into the game, only to see Jason Kidd sink a miracle buzzer shot from beyond half court (in my opinion, the greatest moment of the weekend by far).

The West led by as many as 21 points with 9 minutes left. Problem was, they were outscored 41-21 in the final quarter, with MVP Allen Iverson scoring 15 of his game-high 25. That's right ... the East beat the West ... and hopefully all this crap about the West being tons better than the East will be put to a screaching halt.

Despite the fact that this was a low-scoring game, I don't think I could have scripted the game much better if I were a Hollywood producer. After a slow start, the game had its share of acrobatic shots, powerful dunks, and one HELL of a finish! What's next? An Eastern Conference team winning the NBA Championship? Could be ...

Any thoughts on the game?

THAT was low-scoring!?... Well, I've never really payed attention to the NBA All-Star Game, so what's normal for the All-Star Game?

I only watched bits and pieces of this game, and it seemed like every time I turned on the TV, the East was missing their shots, but it turned out to be a great and exciting finish.

...that's what the Washington fans will be dreaming of for a while... comebacks... don't see many of those nowadays in DC... unless it's the OTHER team coming back from a deficit to beat the Wizards...

I would say around 130 is an average score for a team. Defense becomes non-existent in these games. :)

I watched the entire game and it was a great game. Everyone talks about how the NBA is declining, yet they have so, so much talent out there. It's pretty amazing how many players were injured on the East. The first three starters introduced were all injured. And man, I feel SO sorry for Mourning.
