Dikembe Mutumbo was traded to the Sixers today with Roshown McLeod for Theo Ratliff, Toni Kukoc, Nazr Mohammed, and Pepe Sanchez.

Any thoughts on the trade?

I for one LOVE the trade on the Sixers' part. They get the center they've always longed for (giving up Theo was hard, he gave so much effort out there, and even was an all-star this year). Everybody in Philly loves Theo, but we couldn't just get Mutumbo for free. The 76ers can now "officially" match up with anyone in the West. He's an older Theo with better stats, especially more rebounds! Problem MAY be that Mutumbo's a FA after this year (more on this to come).

Losing Toni Kukoc won't be horrible. After getting a good contract, hustle-player George Lynch beats him out for the starting spot. Kukoc fell out of favor with Larry Brown from the start almost. Anyway, I want to see Jumaine Jones get more PT. Hopefully it'll happen. We'll find a way to handle the loss of Kukoc's 15 minutes per game. Nothing to worry about.

Nazr showed the last couple games he deserves a chance somewhere in the NBA. Good luck to him, but no worry since he was #11 on our bench.

I love Pepe. But we have Speedy Claxton coming here next year. And if we really want him back, it'd be easy (great PR for the team for bringing back the Temple guy -- fans go wild over him). Good luck to him, but no worry since he was #12 on our bench.

We also get McLeod. God knows what he's like. But who cares about that. We'll either a.) find production out of him or b.) stick him deep on the bench. No problem there.

I mentioned earlier that Mutumbo was a free agent. That means two things. We sign him for next year, or we let him go elsewhere and we have the money to sign a BIG NAME FA such as WEBBER! If we can't get someone really good, we keep Mutumbo, the front office isn't known for screwing trades up by not at least keeping the guy.

Who got the better part of the trade ... the Sixers.

The Sixers are going to be even better now w/ Mutumbo. I think they have a better chance at going to the finals and maybe winning it.

I think the Sixers came out better in this and agree with Jersey Devil. They got the center they needed and I think this was a step forward to getting them a championship.

Being a big time Sixers fan...I LOVE THE TRADE!!! :)

Like Jersey said, this is what the Sixers needed..

They needed the big man up front..

However, I didn't mind giving up Kukoc and Muhammed.

HOWEVER, I hated giving away Theo and Pepe. Pepe, being a hometown kid, didn't do much but it was nice seeing him on the Sixers. I also hated to lose Theo. But as the saying goes, you need to give something to get something.

Sixers headed to the finals :)

"It really helps the Sixers in the short-term (championship run), but they lost Kukoc and Ratliff, two big men. Granted, Kukoc hasn't been playing all that well this season, but the loss of both him and Ratliff will make their frontline quite thin."

We won't have any problem adapting to losing Kukoc and Ratliff. Mutumbo and Ratliff (injured anyway) cancel each other out, as do Kukoc and McLeod. All we lose in the trade is an extra bench big man in Nazr.

This doesn't do much to hurt the front court of the 76ers. They now boast three pretty good players over seven foot in Mutombo, Geiger, and MacCulloch. At PF, they have Tyrone Hill and George Lynch/Geiger can play time there. At small forward, they have George Lynch, Aaron McKie, Jumaine Jones, Rodney Buford, and Roshown McLeod.
