What is your favorite moment in baseball of all time? (Example: someone hitting a home run in an exact game, a heroic effort, a great play, etc.)
I'll post my up later.

Joe Carter hitting his World Seeries winning homerun!
And I have to give McGwire credit when he hit is 62 and 70. It's too incredible to forget.
Yeah, I have to admit I'm a very casual baseball fan who rarely watches, but the homerun race with Sammy vs. Mac was just a great moment for baseball... it really got fans excited - except it's kind of died down now.

The Shot Heard 'Round the World.. Bobby Thomson. Even though the Giants were stealing signs, he swears he didn't on the pitch.

Joe Carter's homerun in the '93 World Series, and also the 14-inning (or was it fifteen innings?... I can't count that high ;) ) game in the NLCS in 1999: Mets vs. Braves... in the rain, yet! :)
Joe Carter's homer.......and Hank's Aaron's record breaking homer...

Carter's home run....and the most heroic play was when Buck Martinez got run over at the plate and broke his leg on the play, but was still able to tag out the other runner for the double play

I recently saw that replay when Martinez was hired as the Jays' manager... pretty awesome!
I always liked the play when the ball bounce off Deion Sander's head and over the fence. ;)

My favorite moment has yet to happen. My favorite moment will likely happen on April 9, 2001, when PNC Park opens in Pittsburgh! PNC Park will help do the following for us:
- It will give us a REAL ballpark to play in and not some old concrete ashtray.
- It will give the team some added revenue to become more competitive (at least on a short-term basis...a long-term soultion is still the implementation of a salary cap).
- It will forever SHATTER the perception of Pittsburgh being nothing but a dirty old has-been city, and it will be among the best ballparks in Major League Baseball.
I just GOTTA visit the place!!!

Thats a pretty cheesey favourite moment...thats like saying "my favourite moment is going to be game 4 of the 2002 world series"...a favourite moment should be something that wasn't expected to happen and when it happens your jumpping around everywhere...cuz i doubt the first game at PNC park you'd be just jumping around cuz a park opened up.

I loved the game winning grand slam single by Robin Ventura in the 1999 NLCS. The Mets still lost the series thanks to Kenny Rogers though.

Some of my favoite moments:
Last year in Game 1 of the World Series. Timo Perez rounds 3rd, cutoff into Jeter, he makes one of the most awesome players ever. He has a presence of mind to make this off balance throw dead on and gun Timo down. That was without a doubt one of my favorite moments.
Another play Jeter made in a World Series, not sure which one, he leaped into the air, I mean leaped in the complete other direction toward third base and threw a strike to first base.
I really like watching Jeter, as well as some other Yankees just play the game. :)

J_Sinclair: Oh believe me; it will involve the unexpected --- on the part of the whole rest of the country when they see Pittsburgh for the first time and realize, "Hey; maybe it's not so bad there after all." :D Pardon me for being defensive, but I finally get to show off now. I'm looking forward to showing off because, let's face it, I'm from Pittsburgh; I'm used to having everything I stand for dismissed as worthless crap. :( But this time I get the last laugh. :)

But back to the real intent of the post...my favorite moment came in July 1997 (I forget the day) when Francisco Cordova and Ricardo Rincon combined for a 10-inning no-hitter against the Astros. The game ended when Jason Kendall bopped a three-run HR in the bottom of the 10th. Final score (after 10 innings): Pirates 3, Astros 0.

I'm an L.A. Dodger fan, so my favorite moment of all-time was Game 1 of the 1988 World Series when a hurt and limping Kirk Gibson pinch hit a 2-run homer off Dennis Eckersley of the Oakland A's (probably the best closer in the game at that time) to win the ballgame and turn the momentum of the World Series for us, propelling us to be World Champions that year.
I remember as a teenager, just jumping around for a few minutes after he hit that one out. I just couldn't believe it. I still remember Vin Scully's call, "She is gone!" I still get some chills up my spine when I see that highlight. Probably my most enjoyable moment as a Baseball fan. And Scully's all about the L.A. fans who are notorious for coming to sporting events late and leaving early, "They won't leave!". Hehe.

How could the Dodgers have been propelled to a World Series Championship after having only played one game? :D

My favorite moment was game 7 of the 1991 WS. Jack Morris threw a 10 inning complete 1-0 game. There is no way in the world that Tom Kelly could have gotten the ball out of his hands before the 10th inning.
A close second is McGwire's 62th homer in 1999.

There are a couple moments that stick out in my mind.
1)The whole 1999 NLCS. That was one of the greatest and most epic series ever in baseball. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time.
2)1991 WS (Game 7). Kirby Puckett's catch in Game 6. But the thing that made this one of the greatest World Series ever was game 7. The duel between Smoltz and Morris was amazing. And if it was for the subtle fakeout by Chuck Knoblauch, Lonnie Smith would have scored for the Braves and history would have been rewritten.
3)1992 NLCS Game 7. As a Braves fan I will never forget Francisco Cabrera or Sid Bream (who thank god, is now cancer-free). Cabrera was the last person off the bench, and delivered the clutch last at bat pinch single that scored Sid Bream as Bonds's throw was a touch late. The Pirates denied once again by the Braves.
4)1995 World Series-Clutch pitching by Tom Glavine and one beautiful inning by Mark Wholers capped a one-hitter in Game 6 that gave the Braves their only World Series of the decade. I'll always remember David Justice's home run going over the right-centerfield wall too.
Some other memories include Joe Carter's walk-off homerun, Kirk Gibson's home run, and any pitcher that pitches a perfect game in the World Series deserves some serious credit.

Wow. I am so smart. I feel badfor the Mets. They had Nolan Ryan, Tom Seaver, etc. but they never had any no-hitters. They all got them while not on the Mets. Must be bad luck.

A Yankees fan in Mississippi? Has anyone told you to "go home" or anything? *lol*
Wasn't Kirby Puckett the lead singer for The Union Gap back in the 1960s? :)
("Young girl, get out of my mind/my love for you is way out of line...)
February 11, 2001 was fun --- I got to see Three Rivers Stadium get leveled.
My next favorite moments will be March 31, 2001 when the New York Fets (err, Mets :)) help my Pirates christen PNC Park! After that will be April 9, 2001 when the Cincinnati Reds help the Pirates play the first regular-season game ever at PNC Park! :D

DBR... take a chill pill man. :)
I've only lived in MS for 2 years, and there is no baseball team anywhere near, but a lot of people are Atlanta fans. Although, I kinda wish you'd go home... ;)
But, seriously, no, noone has told me "go home". :)

Yankee fans are everywhere. Too bad nobody likes them if you aren't a Yankee fan. I live in NY and root for the Mets. Another cool moment was when the Mets came back last year by like 7 runs or something vs. Terry Mullholand and the Braves at Shea.

I don't know any favorite moments, because my Sox haven't won the champiosnhip yet....
But I do know my LEAST FAVORITE moment, summed up in one word:
Buckner

That has to be one of my top 3 favorites. Buckner......
Hahahaha. I feel bad for that guy :(. If he just would have caught the ball, he would have ended the curse and the Red Sox would have won the World Series.

Jim Sundberg's bases-loaded triple against Toronto in Game Seven of the 1985 ALCS, setting up the All-Missouri World Series.
(Yeah, it was good to beat the cross-state Cardinals for the championship, but the 11-0 blowout in Game Seven of the WS wasn't all that exciting.)

I think a great moment was when Bill Buckner lost the series for the Red Sox in '86. Mostly because it's the easiest way I can think of to torment Sox fans, besides the Babe Ruth thing. hehehehe. GO YANKS!

I have two that I can't pick over the other:
Randy Johnson nailing that pigeon, and when Nolan Ryan was like 40 and he hit some young guy with a pitch. The guy charges the mound and Ryan promptly puts the kid in a headlock with one arm, and starts punching him in the face. I burst out laughing each time I see these things.
Oh, and the guy pulling his pants down at 1st base was pretty funny.
