Question: The equivilant of the majors on the PGA Tour (golf) is "Grand Slams" in tennis, right? So if I'm right on that, my question is, "how many Grand Slams are there per year in tennis?"
Thanks!

There are 4 Slams per year in tennis...
In order:
Australian Open
French Open
Wimbledon
U.S. Open
It is not a dumb question... If you want to read more about the slams I have links to them on my site where u can check out the sites themselves.

The "Grand Slam" moniker came out of the US, and it is actually based on the grand slam home run. All four players score when you hit a grand slam homer, and you win a Grand Slam if you win all of the big four in the same year. They have been known as the slams for almost 80 years now. The original phrase did not even raise its head until Don Budge won all four in 1938. Since then only one man (Rod Laver) and 4 women (Connelly, Court, Graf and with an asterisk Navratilova) have done the same.
Just thought you might like some Cliff Claven trivia...
