Is anyone in this forum an official (referee, linesman, scorekeeper, etc.) for ANY sport?...

If so, what is the number one thing that pisses you off about doing that job? They are nearly the same for all the sports, whether it be the people you work with, the coaches, players, or fans

I am a Level II official with Hockey Canada/Hockey Manitoba, and, although I rarely referee, I love being a linesman. However, the Number One thing that makes me mad about my job is stupid fans. Like today, I waved off an icing call because the team that iced the puck was killing a penalty and a fan who obviously wasn't paying enough attention to the game said, "WHY ISN'T THAT ICING!... COME ON, LINESMAN!!!"

Grrrrrrr....

Express the thing that ticks you off the most about officiating.

I referee youth games from under 10 kids to under 19 playeres.

There are many things that tick me off in refereeing the games. Other than some stupid fans (as Lee mentioned), the one thing that I can't stand are some coaches. Especially with the very younger kids. They put soooo much pressure on the kids to be perfect. One little mistake and they flip out. Totally stinks. I can't wait until I get older and coach my kids, there's no way I'm ever going to turn into one of them coaches.

Around here, the coaches for the REAL LITTLE hockey players (grades kindergarten to grade 2 or 3) laugh at little mistakes and just want their players to go out there and have fun... but as the players get older (grades 5-6 and higher), they're always yelling... constructive crisitism nonetheless... most coaches aren't bad...
