Hey,

I was just wondering, this can be a serious or amusing thread. But have any of you been hit or hit someone else with a golf ball (BY MISTAKE). I have a couple of times and I've been hit once. Here's what happened:

1) Amusing time - I was practicing at those nets where you hit the balls into and they roll back to you. It was a big net where you could use anything from woods to s-wedge. My dad was right next to me at another one and he had stepped out from it cuz he was tired of hitting the ball into the net and wanted to hit it into the tree. I must have shanked my next shot cuz all I remember was hittin my dad in the behind with the ball, and he was jumping all over the place. Unfortunately he went on to beat me that day, damnit.

2) Not so amusing time - I was practicing on a small golf green outside of a golf club. My brother and I were trying to lob the ball up with a 62 degree. I made a mistake a caught it thin :(. The ball soared 70 yards towards the club and hit the starter in his head, while he was talking to his friend. I felt so bad, he had to go to the hospital to see if he had a concussion and I told them I would stay and work for him (it was a place I had worked before). Luckily he was ok and he never was upset about it.

3) the time I got hit wasnt so bad. it was outside my house and my brother missed the shot and hit me while I was walking about. My dad didnt get mad because I stopped the ball before it hit the house, so he was actually pretty glad. I was ok too..

Anyway, just wanted to know if there have been anytimes where you got hit or hit someone with a golf ball (BY MISTAKE). I've seen a couple of people get hit while watching these big tournaments on T.V. but for the most part it doesn't happen that often!

Hitting the starter! lol :)

Well, lets see, I've been close to being hit, I've had like 2 balls hit my cart before.

And I hit a kid when we were playing around one time, I told him he should get behind me and not in front, but it just hit his leg and didn't really hurt or anything. :)

Some guy hit a wild one way off the fairway and nailed me from behind. The guy started yelling at me for being "in his path".

Goodness!

1) Hitting the starter is pretty bad.

2) I've never hit anyone, nor been hit, luckily. However, I can relate to shanked chips on the practice greens. My friends and I unintentially make a living of shanking balls off the side of the clubhouse when we have chipping contests. We're good golfers, just try to get fancy, and pay for it!

Whenever I'm at the driving range with my friends we keep track of how many times we hit the guy picking the ball up. Loser buys ice cream or somethin'

Recently when I went golfing I hit my drive and it sliced badly to the right and hit some guy teeing off on another hole. The guy starts yelling and as I walk up the fairway I see the guy holding his wrist and he is flicking me off! He picked up my ball and threw it back at me. Since it landed on the fairway I innocently played it from there.

I have yet to hit someone, and the closest a ball has come to me is hitting my cart.

I came close once to hitting someone. It's was off a par 3, 18th hole on my home course. I hit my tee shot off to the right, onto hole #1's tee area. Being the nice people that they were, they were ok with it.

I chipped my next shot from there, and almost holed it -- over a fence, thru some trees, and up the green! It's the closest I've ever gotten to a "hole in one" from the tee area :D

Most people play golf for fun, and they don't count those things as long as they are in the golf course. If it goes into someones yard, at least I just drop it around where it left, and continue playing.

When I first started playing a while ago, my friend and I were putting out on a par three. So these four idiots playing behind us decided to hit off the tee on a par three while we were still putting. So just when I'm about to putt, I hear a whizz. I look around and see a ball fly onto the green about five feet away from me. So I walk over to the center of the green and start waving my arms at the foursome. I walk back and putt it in. Then my friend putts, misses then we hear a ball fly into a bush slightly next to the green. So we had enough, my friend yells over to them "Watch where your ****** hitting the ball. This is a ***** par three you dumb ******!" Then he takes their balls and throws them into the woods by the hole. This happened when we were fourteen. The guys were all in their thirtees. I was scared strait. THen after he threw them we ran to the next teebox and tried to finish our round before they caught up to us.

...in their THIRTIES!?...... I think they should take a moment to read the posted "Golfer Etiquitte" rules in front of the club house.... or on their scorecard....

..that's pathetic.

Yeah, they were out of line and possibly drunk, but...

you should have done nothing, finished out, finished up and reported them. What you, or actually, what your friend did, was not really any better or anything...

We could have been killed if one of those balls would have hit us in the head. And we were really angry so I dont think what we did was out of line. It wasnt our job to police the course and they should have known better. But by the way, I do believe that they were actually drunk, I grew up in kind of a hill-billy town and that was a real cheap course.
