After all the criticism about Jordan....doesn't attend games, stays in Chicago, not DC......Jordan pulled off a huge deal, getting rid of some big time money. Now, after they rid themselves of Strickland, the Wizards will have some major cap money, and Jordan's leadership will attrack big time free agents who are dying to play for Jordan.
Just wait....
Could Chris Webber return to Washington? They might have the money soon, but I doubt he'd leave a winning team for a losing one, but stranger things have happened.

Yeah the slim chance of that happening got slimmer I think since his college buddy Juwan Howard isn't on the team anymore though.

I agree. I never really thought he was doing a bad job, MJ is MJ and he was being MJ. I think people should have learned long ago not to question the man. :)

Actually, I just remembered it isn't Chris Webber that Jordan is focusing on.
The Washington Wizards will have $10 to $15 million of cap space for the Summer of 2002 and you know who the biggest free agent will be then? Vince Carter. That's Jordan's "number one" target. I read that in the paper the other day.

Am I the only one that knows that Michael Jordan is NOT the General Manager of the Washington Wizards, or am I the only one that doesn't know that!??????
From NBA.com
(In the 1999-2000 season,) Michael Jordan joined the team in January as part-owner and head of basketball operations.
...sure, he impacts the team, but he does not control the team like the General Manager does... it's just like Wayne Greztky being owner/vice president of the Phoenix Coyotes in the NHL... he's going to impact the team, but not completely control it.
Am I correct or confused?

Okay... now my other question was, what happened to MJ talking negative about Carter at last year's all-star game?
"He's a one-dimensional player... no defense..."
A change of heart, all of a sudden!?.. because we'd love to just keep his "one-dimensional" game here in Canada!..

Okay, he's not the General Manager of the team but like you said he has an impact. I'm not making this up. I read this in my paper last Sunday, the Washington Wizards will have $10 to $15 million in cap room, maybe even more if they can dump Rod Strickland, in the Summer of 2002 and rumor is their (read "their" is the Wizards not just Michael Jordan) target is Vince Carter.

Yeah, but that was I believe when people were asking Jordan if Carter could be the next M.J. and Michael Jordan "The Player's" response was he's just a "one-dimensional player". Even though, he's retired Michael Jordan "The Player" still comes out and has pride in that regard when people compare all these young players to him.
But Michael Jordan "The Part Owner of the Washington Wizards" knows better. Michael Jordan "The Part Owner" likes Vince Carter.

Well, Vince Carter may not be as well-rounded as M.J. was, but would you pass up on him? He certaintly brings a lot to the table on offense!

If there's ANY chance that the Wizards could get this guy, they better do it. It's the #1 way to get people back in the seats, and it'll attract lots of free agents to the team. I think all this nonsense about him not being able to play defense is just that ... nonsense. I'm not saying that he's the next coming of Jordan defensively, but he can surely hold his own on any given night.
