Anyone else here going to follow the XFL? I am an Orlando Rage season ticket holder. I hate pro basketball and hockey, and I think the XFL will be a great relief to football fans like me between February and April after the Super Bowl is over and before spring training.

I won't go as far as to say the XFL will succeed or I'll like it better than the NFL, but it certaintly has some good things going for it. One thing is time. They are starting it right after the NFL ends - so hopefully fans can continue watching the XFL after the NFL ends. They also have the backing of the WWF fans and NBC, not to mention people like Jesse Ventura announcing, which should draw attention. One thing's for sure: it will be very interesting to watch at first!

Actually, I think the XFL will be OK. We have a cable sports station that's going to be broadcasting XFL games up here in Canada, so I might watch a few... one question I have, though: will the football be black with red stripes like on their web site and all their commercials!?

I think so... it's not like the football's colors matter, though.

Well, I'm sure it would take some getting used to, since nearly all footballs are brown and white, unless you playing "football" in Eurpoe where they're "dalmation" colored!!!!!

It's also notable that the WNBA plays with a unique red and white striped ball in comparison to the average ball.

The XFL needs a few years for me to decide how I feel about it. It is all speculation right now; I need to see what happens on the field and elsewhere. I doubt I will like it better than the NFL, though, although the XFL and Arena Football will still be OK to watch when the NFL slumbers. However, I do take issue with Jesse Ventura being in the booth at these games. Lest he forgot, he was elected to govern Minnesota in 1998, and I think that is a much higher priority than announcing in the booth at a football game.

True, but if he has the time, I see no problem with him doing something like this - if he wants to do this on his free time. If this is the kind of stuff he enjoys doing and it doesn't affect his gov't work, I see no problems with it.
