Well, I wasn't a baseball fan back then, but I heard the Expos WERE close to a World Series Championship back... a while... ago.
But as for now, yeah, the Expos suck.... or what about the 1999 Marlins (..or the year after their World Series Championship when they sold their entire team away and stunk... I think that was 1998, so the year after would be '99).... that team was pretty bad if you ask me!

Lee, the Expos were the best team in the NL when we had the strike, so were the Yankees in the AL. Shoot... image it. :)
As for worst team, I'll have to do some research and get back to you. :)
What about those horrible Minnesota Twins? I can't remember the last time they did anything...

The 1988 Baltimore Orioles. They started off 0-21, for pete's sake!

I say the 1962 Mets were the worst. They lost 100 something games.
From a more general view, I'd say the Expos. They are almost always in last and they never keep any of their talent for too long.

Well, the only team i can think of that hasn't ever done anything would be Tampa Bay. They are pretty new but they haven't done much.

Don't insult my team!!!!!!!! Let me do it. The Twins have gone through some tough times, who hasn't, but I think they are a team on the rise. They can win 78 games this season easily, and I don't think .500 is out of the question. They may not contend this season, but they could in the near future. Wishful thinking? Maybe, but they are a much improved team over the one they ran out on the field in 1999.

That still doesn't make them any good though. You could say that about almost any team that is doing poorly.

Yeah -- I've been saying that about the Jays since 1994... but they have been steadily improving each year! :)

Yes. They were in first place in the AL East for a brief time last year. This year I hope they can stay in first for most of the season. Anything to keep the Yankees out. I doubt it though.

Expos. They can't win any games, they have the lowest pay roll in the Major Leagues. Hell, A-Rod makes more than the Expos pay roll. They get no attendance, and are making absolutely no money.

And that's really sad to see because Montreal has some really good fans. I have a few friends online who are Expos fans and they're as loyal and avid as you can get.
Andres Galarraga, Andre Dawson, Marquis Grissom, Larry Walker, Gary Carter (for a while), Pedro Martinez, Randy Johnson, Cliff Floyd, Tim Raines, Mel Rojas....oh wait.....

WORST TEAMS:
Single-season performance: Baltimore Orioles (1988)*
Fan support: Montreal Expos
Fan enthusiasm: Atlanta Braves
Fan behavior: Los Angeles Dodgers
Stadium: Montreal Expos
Owner: New York Yankees/Atlanta Braves (tie)
Franchise as a whole: Montreal Expos
* - Too bad Albert Belle couldn't be on this team. If he were, I would've wanted him to stay in baseball. *lol*

Say what you want about Steinbrenner and Turner, but at least they do what it takes to content and to win.

But is what they do ethical? :(

I would say so.
They make their teams better by throwing all they have at it. Nothing wrong with that. :)

But is it ethical when all they have comes at the expense of 20 or so other teams? Call me bitter if that's what you think I am, but while I can see what the Twins do and start supporting a minimum spending limit, I can also see what the Braves and Yankees do and start supporting a salary cap. It's sorta like when the Yankees signed Jose Canseco, not because they needed him, but because they didn't want the Red Sox to get him. If you ask me, that is very parallel to a business being guilty of anti-trust. I think something needs to be done soon about the economics of MLB, especially if the Green Bay Packers, Ottawa Senators and Utah Jazz can all contend for championships in their respective sports. And I know this whole deal might be hard for the Yankees or the Braves to swallow, but let's face it...yes, they may get worse once new policies are put in place...but it's better to be good for a while and then bad for a while than to be perrennially bad, which is what the policies that Ted Turner and George Steinbrenner support do to those 20 other teams. Once you eliminate all competition around you, you may receive a lot, but you earn very little.

Money doesn't buy championships... in fact, NOTHING buys championships -- you still have to play the games to get it. I guess this isn't as easy to see with the Yankees because they keep winning year after year after year with their league-high payroll, but in the NHL, for example, everyone was afraid of the New York Rangers with their league high $68-million payroll... they suck.

Definitely bitter. ;)

Yeah, you might want to tell Dan Synder and the Redskins that!

I believe they (Synder and the Redskins) proved that last year. :)
