I was just wondering if Windows ME is worth it? I think Windows 98 is just fine, how bout you?
Well, yes and no. If you have a Windows 9x machine, it's not worth the upgrade. It only has a few improvements in multimedia areas, but nothing signficant. Also, it doesn't have MS-DOS, which is a downer. The upgrade can also cause severe hardware and software conflicts on your machine. However, if you are getting a new computer, you shouldn't AVOID getting it.
It's a "get-it-if-you-can-but-not-a-must-have" software. :) Personally, I'm excited by Whistler, which is supposed to be completely different from everything Windows we've become accustomed to. Microsoft is leaning toward bringing new OS's every year now.

Ok, thanks for the input. What are your thoughts on Linux?
I personally have never used Linux, so can't give too accurate insight here. Many like it, but Windows works for me. Anyone have any thoughts?

Is Linux like the Unix operating system? I thought I heard somewhere before that they're kind of similar but I could be wrong. Anyways, I've used Unix before and Windows is much more user-friendly so if Linux is like Unix, I'd definitely pick Windows over it too.

Actually I don't know anything about Linux but know some people who use it. I have also read alot on it and it appears to be highly customizable. It is supposed to be similar to MS DOS but much more versatile.
One thing is for sure: Linux is for extremely advanced computer users - newbies should stick to Windows. Personally, I'm satisfied with Windows.

I wouldn't consider myself a newbie... but, I like Windows. I figure the main reason, which I believe is a good reason is that, most software is compatible with Windows and so is everything I use.

Yes. I also am fine with Windows as I am used to it and it is the most popular and easiest to use. Linux will probably not get more popular quickly.

I don't think it is worth the switch to Windows ME. Windows 98 works just dandy. :)
