Nate,
I knew it was you, anyway. :) I know Marc can't do the graphics, etc like that. :)

I'm no graphics guru like Nate, but I can get around vBulletin and I did coordinate the new look with Nate, so we both deserve credit. And for those wondering, I do know a thing or two about designing!

I also love the new look.... although I don't think I'll be using the top nav too much, but it's great for newbies around here!!!

...hey... I never realized that the top bar (Auto Racing, NCAA B-ball, NCAA f-ball, Golf, etc.) went to the actual Sports Central web site... I thought it went to the related forum on the message boards... nice touch!... I might use that feature after all! :)
...one more question: vB 2.0 has been released... when will it be making its way to the Sports Central boards, Marc???

Well, my hunch is that this design change was made to accommodate vB 2's new features or whatever or just because it is coming soon... so, like I said... I think its gotta be soon... right, Marc? ;)

Something had to do with PHP4 not on the server or something....
I may be wrong though.
Yes, you are right Wedge. Currently, the server that Sports Central is hosted on does not support PHP4, which vB2 uses. Marc is switching servers, though, so it is only a matter of time.
(Feel free to correct me if im wrong, Marc :))

Are you just switching servers at HostRocket or going to another host?
No, not a new host, just switching the server the site is held on to the company's new one that does support php4.
Hi folks,
In our last announcement, we said the major boards upgrade to version 2.0 with all those new features would take place very soon, however, we are most likely going to wait things out for a couple more weeks until the final version is released.
Reasons are:
1. If we upgraded right away to the beta, we would have to go to the trouble later on to upgrade to the final version.
2. As in any beta version, bugs are going to be there, and it would be safest to wait until all of the bugs are cleared out.
3. Version 2.0 beta of the software has only been released in PHP4, for those wondering, and our server is only running PHP3. Thus, we would have to move the entire site and database onto a new server. We are experiencing good uptimes and load speeds on this server and don't want to take the chance of moving to a new server unless it's entirely necessary.
Once again, thanks for the continued interest in this and stick by, an upgrade is still on the horizon, just not as soon as once stated. Enjoy the new improvements we've already made!

Am I the only one that thinks that they didn't have to release vB 2 in php 4 beta? I mean, what exactly does that achieve anyway? If PHP4 is in beta stage, wouldn't it also have a few bugs or something?
Maybe I don't know what I am talking about here...

I would try to answer you but I know even less about what I try to say. Especially when it comes to stuff like PHP.

I'm sorry, I had a typo in my above explaination. It is corrected now. And no, PHP4 isn't in beta, vBulletin 2 is.

Me neither. It's not fair. What is all this PHP stuff they are talking of? PHP is like a script type thing right? You can use MySQL with it maybe? I dunno.... Someone help me out. Why do you need PHP4 for vBulletin 2.0?

PHP is a programming language and yes these boards run on a mySQL database. :)

I like the new options on the boards now, but i don't like the look. IMO it looks kind of unproffesional because it seems like everything is kind of scattered around. Just giving my opinion.
You people seem to be confusing the new header from last week with the new upgrade. I'm closing this thread, continue all discussion on the upgrade in the other thread.
