Now (after the release of point guard Rod Strickland), all Jordan's really left with are the contracts of Mitch Richmond and Christian Laettner (even though CL's isn't too bad). Just look at the team now:

1.Point Guard
Chris Whitney

2. Off Guard
Richard Hamilton
Courtney Alexander
Hubert Davis

3. Small Forward
Mitch Richmond
Tyrone Nesby
Laron Profit (IL)

4. Power Forward
Michael Smith
Loy Vaught
Popeye Jones
Etan Thomas(IL)

5. Center
Jahidi White
Christian Laettner

Not too bad for a team that was stuck at the beginning of the year with Juwan Howard and Rod Strikland's contracts! Soon, they'll be able to even improve the team through the draft and (GASP!) FREE AGENCY! Congratulations MJ. You just made yourself look really, really good!

I was wondering, so the Wizards bought out Rod Strickland's contract right? So does that mean none of his contract counts against the Salary Cap? That can't be right can it?

I mean because if that was the case than the teams with the richest owners (ie. Paul Allen) or teams in big markets like the Lakers or the Knicks can buy out "mistake" signings at anytime really negating the Salary Cap.

I can't imagine that none of Strickland's now bought out contract counts against the cap.

The trade to dump Howard on the Mavs was a good one, but Jordan is not even close to the top of my list for executive of the year.

I have two words.

JOE DUMARS. [The Pistons have a 1st round pick from Vancouver coming to them over the next few years, as well as one from Toronto. He turned a bad team whose salary cap was full to a bad team, albeit with great upside, with just over 16 million dollars of cap room. Chris Webber anyone?]
