Well, it looks like Doug Flutie is going to end up as Michael Vick's mentor in San Diego...assuming the Chargers draft Vick as expected. Not a bad idea.

Flutie can probably teach Vick a lot about how to play the position, and they have more in common as players than most may think. For one thing, they're both scramblers, but Flutie knows when to scramble and when to throw, something Vick needs a lot of work on.

The report I saw said Flutie would sign a 6-year deal, but I'm sure a good bit of that is structured similiarly to the contract Bruce Smith signed with Washington last off-season. Surely they don't expect Flutie to play six more years.

You beat me to the post! :)

Yeah, I think this is definitely a good move for the Chargers. Vick will definitely benefit from Flutie (if and) when the Chargers take him.

I like the move... as long as Vick is willing to wait out a while and play behind Flutie while he gains valuable experience.

Ya I definatley hope Flutie gets the nod until Vick learns the ropes of the NFL QB.

I definately think it was a wise decision on the part of the Chargers. If they do get Vick, it will be nice to have a solid veteran QB to teach the kid the ropes.

I also like the decision the Chargers did. However, I'm surprised they didn't go out and get Aikman. I think Aikman can show Vick a lot more than Flutie can.

Also, being a Cowboys fan, I hope Aikman retires now!! :)
