He not only made the cut, but he played well. Pretty cool, people might be saying that he'll challenge Tiger, but when he is Tiger's age, Tiger will be in his mid 30s, so that wouldn't be fair anyway. But, something to watch for. :)

I heard about this kid... it's good to hear there's some *young* talent out there brewing. All of a sudden, Tiger is old. ;) It's good for golf's future and it shows anyone can compete if you're good enough.

Yeah, I heard about this kid -- Ty Tryon. He's "only" 16, which means, BTW, that he does NOT set the record for the youngest person to play in a PGA Tour event. The youngest was a while ago -- he was 15 years, 8 months old, and played in the Canadian Open... I'm not 100% sure if he was Canadian or not, but I AM 100% sure that the record was set in the Canadian Open.

Tryon finished tied for 39th, with names like Mark O'Mera and Lee Janzen... not sure what his prize money was, but it will sure be a lot for a 16-year old!

He cannot claim any of it, as he is an amateur. Amateur's cannot claim prize money, as soon as they 'turn pro' then they are eligable to recieve prize money. But for this event, no prize. :)

Really?... well, I guess it makes sense... oh well... If I were that good, I wouldn't mind playing in a PGA Tour event for no money.

Problem is though, I'm not that good. :)

Being here at University really puts me at a disadvantage because I dont have the opportunity to watch any TV let alone golf! :(.

I hadnt heard about this story until I came here but its really cool! I have a couple friends who are at the David Leadbetter school, I wonder if they know him!

Congrats to him.

Yeah Amueters arent alowed to do a lot of things. They get no money, cant gamble, cant give tips..or any of that. Did you know that you arent even aloud to write an article about golf, if you do, they will strip your ameutar title.
