GREEN BAY, Wis. -- Green Bay Packers quarterback Brett Favre was shaken but safe Monday after a severe storm tore the roof off his Mississippi home while he, his infant daughter and his in-laws huddled under a stairway.

"I've been through the worst weather you can think of with hurricanes and what not, but for the first time in my life I was really scared," he told the Green Bay Press-Gazette. "I feared for our lives."

The storm swept through southern Mississippi early Monday, killing a man when a tree fell on his truck, and damaging dozens of homes.

"We had $1.5 million worth of pine trees," Favre said from his home near Hattiesburg, Miss. "Probably half are gone. If they're not pulled up by the roots, they're snapped in half."

Favre and his 20-month-old daughter, Breleigh, were watching television when the electricity went out. Soon after, he said he heard a noise that sounded like a train.

"We could hear the roof just peeling off," he said.

Favre's wife, Deanna, and their 12-year-old daughter, Brittany, were out of town.

"At least they didn't have to go through it," he said. "It's like somebody dropped a bomb on the place."

Favre, 31, recently agreed to a contract extension with the Packers worth a reported $100 million over 10 years.

And he only lives like two hours from me! Well, I suppose he can afford that new roof now. :D

Whoa! I'm thankfully glad he wasn't injured. He's only my favorite player on my favorite team, and yes, I'm sure he can afford a new home now. :)
