Do you think that a position switch affects a person's performance not only defensively, but offensively?
I say this because it seems almost certain that 1999 MVP Chipper Jones will be moved to the outfield to begin the 2001 season. I personally think that the move won't affect him, but how about other people?

I don't know about offensively, but I certaintly agree defensively. I mean, you get used to your surroundings and duties with one position, and then when you have to switch, it's like starting all over again.
I think it will change Defensively cause if u used to be in 3rd then move to outfeild u have to catch more but easier ones then the ones in 3rd. And it will be pretty hard to go from 3rd to 1st cause man u need to crank up ur defensive skill.

Defensively? Of course it will affect you.
Offensively? Probably not ability wise, maybe mentally. If you make a lot of errors, you could possibly begin to doubt yourself... and lead to more problems. But, there is a small chance of this with a high caliber player as a Chipper Jones.

I think so. Most transitions could be rough but some work out well like Todd Zeile. Zeile was a good first baseman for the Mets this last year after moving from 3rd base.

Depends on the player - - when Justice came up, he played 1B (due to an emergency) and did not hit - until he went back to the OF. Others, no problem - - see Biggio from C to 2B.
