View Full Version : Purdue over No. 1 Arizona
I was amazed when I returned home from work and discovered that the unranked Purdue Boilermakers had defeated Number 1 Arizona in mens college basketball.
As a Purdue fan, I was of course, exstatic, but completely suprised. What are your thoughts on the upset? Since I missed the game, I would really like to know what went on.

I didn't see the game, but without Loren Woods and the distraction his suspension has caused, that probably had a little bit to do with it.
Not to take anything away from Purdue. Props to them. I've always thought Gene Keady is a good coach. And kind of underrated while doing his coaching, up until this year, in the state that people immediately think of Bob Knight when they think of Indiana.
Yeah, what an upset! I was just going to say... it's all because they were without their star center Loren Woods. I didn't see the game either, but now Duke is number one.
My Kentucky Wildcats also got beat last night. :( They are a measily 1-3 so far, but you can always say they are young and inexperienced. I think they will get back on track soon. Hopefully in time for their huge UK/UNC bout next Saturday!

Right now, Duke looks like the team to beat in college basketball. Jason Williams, Mike Dunleavy, etc. all are looking great right now, and against top opponents at that. You can add in Michigan St. too, even though they lost a LOT of people last year. Charlie Bell and company are poised to repeat.
Joe Forte's UNC team and Loren Woods' Arizona squad, as well as other teams, seem to be faltering this early in the season. Hopefully they'll turn it all around so that we can have a really exciting March Madness this year.

Let's go Purdue! My uncle works there. There team is pretty good but is made mostly of young guys.
They arent bad, but since they are young, they obviously lack talent. Hopefully Jon Allison will continue to develop. He scored 29 Saturday against Appalachian St. I guess we will see what happens when the Big Ten season starts.
