about a 19-yr. old kid named Tony Blanco whom Pedro has dubbed "The next Vlad Guerrero."
Check it out,

Looks like he has potential. Considering he got the compliment from Pedro, he might have better chances of turning into a star than other players called "the next great star" by some no name writer or minor league coach. Guerrero is one of my favorite players so lets hope this youngster stays in the Red Sox so he gets more exposure than Guerrero in Montreal.

I wouldn't let Pedro be a judge of talent, but the kid is talented.

What does this MEAN!?... I mean, the next "Vlad Guerrero," who's only been in major league ball for one or two years... how can you compare someone to a guy that young?
Wat do u mean Lee Tony or Vlad??? Well anyways man that tony does look good but wat do they mean by "simulated" game? By APBA or something or wat????? Cause if its APBA, i can't really judge someone with a simulator that stinks!

I don't understand what you mean, Peck, but all I am asking is how can you compare a prospect to a guy who's only been in the league for two years!?

Thats exactly what I was thinking Lee. :) But, Pedro said it, not Jared. At least thats what I got from the post. :)

If you know baseball, you know that Vladamir Guerrero, though young, as Lee says (only 2 yrs. experience), Guerrero has been called the best pure hitter in Major League Baseball countless times. If you watch Vlad, he can hit a ball anywhere in the strike zone and beyond, and can adjust to lefties, righties, low ball, high ball, power and finess pitchers, all of that.
Blanco has that ability, like Vlad. You all watch- Vlad will be a Hall of Famer- and hopefully, Blanco will follow.

Well, I don't believe you can call Vlad a future hall of famer - yet. Once injury could end that dream real quick.

...playing on a team like Montreal that keeps losing also will have something to do with getting into the Hall of Fame... I'm sure you can name a few great players in EVERY sport that were extrememly good players, but, because they never won a championship, did not make it to the Hall of Fame.
However, I don't see Geurerro playing in Montreal all his life... the $$$$ issue..

Definitly. Vlad will get out of Montreal eventually, money or not. I know for a fact most people haven't seen him nearly enough to know of him. I, for one, haven't seen nearly enough of him. Although, I have read about him, and he seems to be a future all-star.

Vlad is one of the best pure hitters in the game, I'm not arguing that, just that to say "The Next Vlad" or "Future Hall of Famer" is a bit much at this time. :)

Yes, I agree. Not only may an injury end his career, but he might just do bad after being traded or something.

Of course, it's a big title at such an early time, for both vlad and blanco. It was basically a complement, nothing more. We'll see though!
