Hey everybody,
I know most of you are around my age [16] and some of you are much older, so I wanted to see where everybody's at, as handicaps go.
I am 16, and have been actively playing golf for about 3 years. I am about a +21 handicap, scoring in the mid-to-low 90's on a pretty hard home course which I belong to as a Junior Member.
What about everybody else?

+12, but only because I haven't played much recently. My home course is very, very, very difficult, so +12 is very good. But, when I get back into the swing I'll easily be in +6-+8.

I've never applied to get a handicap 'cuz I never play in tournaments so it doesn't really matter... maybe this year, though.....

Well, just give us an estimate of your average 18 hole over par score. Meaning, you played 18 holes five times and shot +5, +5, +6, +7 and +7. Then your average would be +6.

Ha Ha Ha!!!.... "+6"!!!... :D LOL!!! :D... yyyeeaaahh right!
...I'd say my average 18-hole score is 120 on my 72-part course... so that's +42! :)

same as iFroggy, I'm 18 and my handicap is 13 for my home course (which is very very hard and highly ranked amongst the top in the world).
SC-Lee the standard beginners handicap is 36 I believe, it does not go any higher then that.

Yeah -- I kinda figured... maybe it's different for the RCGA (Royal Canadian Golf Assosiation) 'cuz we don't get to golf as much as the majority of you can do down in the States... he he :) I doubt it, but I'll have to check that out... does it not also depend on course difficulty and age and stuff?... it's not SOLEY based on scores, is it?... anyway I'll have to check that out if I can start getting some "reasonable" scores this season... hopefully my home course opens in late April/early May or so... but I guess the snow has to melt first, eh!?

Solely scores, yes, Lee. A men's handicap can only go as high as 36 and a ladies handicap can go as high as 42 I believe.

It's a great course- I drove by it once! :)
My home course is one of the best in its area, so they're trying to get a Senior Tour stop at it.

My home course's website is as follows, though keep in mind it's under constuction, so not much....

Yes, I'm not saying it didn't win awards, just not ones within the last 5 years. I am sure it has been ranked in a couple, but not too highly.
If its so good, they should really upgrade their website. They don't have a domain name and they have a picture of a man in pink shorts in bottom left? I cannot think of one top course in the world website that fits those specifications.
Also, I'm not saying it wasn't highly ranked. The point that Babe Ruth, Winston Churchill, Duke of Windsor and Dwight Esienhower as well as Bush proves what I was saying, it hasn't been highly ranked in the world in some time.
For the sake of my point, I went over to the Golf Magazine website to pull up their ranking of the Top 100 Courses in the World. If it was highly ranked in some, it would at least be ranked in this one. It isn't on the 1999 rankings or the 1995.

Anyway, its not worth arguing about, if you find any rankings online, let me know, but we have our own opinions, so like I said its not worth it. :)

Ravi,
I am only going to say one thing this time: you did not show me any links in which your entire facily was 'highly' ranked. I don't count having one hole of your course or having Honorable Mention highly ranked. This isn't about my course being highly ranked in the World, despite it being a Top 20 Resort U.S. course and obviously just as 'high' in the world as yours, its not about that, you said your course was highly ranked and by the links it doesn't appear that it is, at least right now at this time.
P.S. You can inspect lists in 1997 for Dancing Rabbit, but the course was not open at that time. ;)
That is the last I want to hear about the subject Ravi, I'm sure you agree.
Now, back to the real topic: HANDICAPS - anyone have one?
Thanks.

Ravi,
Last Word: nothing is going against me. You have showed me nothing that has shown as your course as you described, which was 'highly' ranked.
And this is the absolute last word, I mean it this time, any further, and I'll have to delete it. :) I am serious.
Please, please :(, someone post a handicap to break this streak of posting by Ravi and myself. :)

I can't get a handicap 'cuz my average for 18 holes is 120 -- 48 strokes above par... but I hope to lower that this year with my new golf bag c/o my Xmas present, and my new golf set which I hope to get within 2 months...

Its not the golf bag, Lee or the shoes or shirt or glove. :) Just keep hammering away, you'll get better.

My handicap is +2 at Columbia Hills CC. Of course, i have an unfair disadvantage as I know that course like the back of my hand.
