Rick Pitino is the new Louisville coach. Anyone here one of those bitter fans? :)

I am one of those bitter fans. I was so hoping he would go to Michigan or some other school that was not in the state of Kentucky. Everybody is like oh that is going to make such a good rival between Kentucky and Louisville now.. Well so what. It has always been such a rival it is just going to be more personal now because the fans of Kentucky who are still loyal to Rick will not know who to cheer for in that game...UK or UofL..Me personally will always cheer for my Wildcats! *S*

Not being a KY resident or fan...seems to me Mr. Rick is all about the $$. The definition of mercenary, but with an ego--word is he didn't like Michigan because even though the athletic dept. in Ann Arbor has deep pockets, he couldn't stand being second fiddle to a successful football program. Hard to wish him success in Louisville. I'm hoping for a string of NIT berths.

Tom Baker..Pitino has always been about the money and about not playing second fiddle. NIT berths would be good..I would laugh! But I am sure he will turn Louisville into a good team. It will be interesting to see if any of the returning players will opt to leave or if they will stay and play for him.

Does anyone thing that any of the players will leave or will they stay? What do you think??

I'm sure they will stay. Pitino didn't get courted by UNLV and spark a bidding war between Michigan and Louisville for nothing. He favors (or at least favored, at KY) a up-tempo style that college players will probably enjoy. I can't remember a player transferring from one of his KY teams. A few left early, but that's it. A bigger question is how many Texas Tech players will jump ship now that Knight has landed in Lubbock?

Good points being made here. I've always liked Pitino... but not very much now. It's hard to like a man who leaves the team you live and die with (Kentucky), goes to the pros for a big paycheck, has no success, and then comes back and becomes coach of your arch rival. I just don't know anymore...
