There has been a lot of talk recently if The Players Championship, held at the TPC at Sawgrass, Florida, should be named the PGA Tour's fifth major.

IMO, I don't see what the difference is. I guess the only difference is that if it's a major, there's a bigger TV audience, thus, the prize money is bigger and thus, everyone want to play in it.

If they were to do this, I think that the event would have to be moved from March to May or September, however, because right now, it is much too close to the Masters.

What does everyone else think?

No, I don't think it should.

I don't have a reason in particular reason besides I don't think it should. The Opens, Masters and the PGA are the majors and I'd like it to stay that way. :)

I say "why not"? I see no problem with it.

I think that if they add a major, they might consider adding more later on. Then it's not as special if you win a major.

Well, the problem with that is that Golf has historical value, as do its majors. The TPC event, although special, is not a major and never should be. There are 4 majors, and that is enough. There is no reason to add a major for the first time in like... FOREVER.

I agree with Patrick... I was kinda deciding during the Player's Championship what I thought... maybe yes... maybe no... I think I've ended up on "no"
