I am looking for any opinions, websites, storys, pros and cons pertaining to the wearing of neckprotectors for icehockey. As long as icehockey was invented accidental skate slashes to the throat have proven FATAL.In Canada all minor hockey players are required to wear a neckprotector and their are still fatal accidents. So ask arround,I would like to try and solve this problem.PPS

Sorry!... I can't really help you on this subject, except for the fact that Don Cherry (I am assuming you know who that is!) always says, "Kids..: always, always wear neck protectors, and to the parents, make sure your kids are just taking them off when they get out on the ice and you aren't watching -- people have been killed from not wearing them."... or something to that effect.

As in all physical sports, there are going to be injuries and protective gear for the athletes to wear. As Lee said, it couldn't hurt to wear the gear. Better safe, than sorry.

Thank you for your replies. The nonwearing of neckprotectors is only one of the problems.Another is the improper wearing of them. The canadian womens olympic hockey team had players,in the last games, twisting them and putting a strip of tape every inch,to give the appearance of a rope that gave little or no protection. In the U.S.are their any rules about wearing neckprotectors?
