So is it true? The Super Bowl will be in February now? That's what I heard on the radio yesterday.
I don't know if that's starting next year or what.
What do you guys think of that?
I don't mind that actually. Baseball, Basketball and Hockey's professional leagues are too long but the N.F.L's is pretty short compared to those other leagues, so I don't mind.

That doesn't make it longer...it just makes it a longer wait between the Semifinals and the Super Bowl.

I think they should just have it on Jan. 28 every year. Check out the SC Calendar and you'll know why. lol Lets keep it in January I think.

Whatever that "radio station" was that Spike was talking about was COMPLETELY wrong.
SuperBowl.com (http://www.superbowl.com/u/xxxv/features/news/ticketinfo.html) is accepting ticket requests, beginning back on February 1, 2001, for the 2002 Super Bowl in New Orleans, to take place SUNDAY, JANUARY 27, 2002.
Read it for yourself by clicking on my link above!

Yeah -- the commericals are about the best part.... but maybe if they postponed the Super Bowl to LATE february, the XFL wouldn't even make the highlite reels! ;)

Actually I heard something about this too....it may be a couple of years before it happens though. I don't remember the reason, but I doubt it would happen.

It's stupid. A week off is time to get prepared. More than that is time to get slightly out of sync and possibly not gel as well as a team, ergo risking injury and bad play once the big game rolls around.
I really don't care when it is. It's in late January now anyway, whats one more week?

The Super Bowls that had already been awarded before the March meetings will be played in January; however, the ones after that (I believe beginning with the one at the end of the 2003 season) will indeed be held in February. The reason for this is that, due to poor attendance and TV ratings on the Labor Day weekend, the owners have decided that, effective immediately, Week 1 of the regular season will fall on the weekend after Labor Day. The way it is going to work out is that the Super Bowl will be played on the fifth Sunday in Januray in years where January has five Sundays; if January has only four Sundays, it will be the first Sunday in February instead (in addition, the "off" week between the conference championship games and the Super Bowl has been eliminated on a permanent basis. Hallelujah!)
And there is another change on the horizon which could result in the dates of future Super Bowls being even later: The NFL's TV contracts expire after the 2005 season; it appears likely that the owners will vote to go to an 18-game regular season (and probably reduce preseason from the current practice - four exhibition games for most teams, five for a few - to three for all teams) starting with the new contracts in 2006 - and no complaints from me if they do this!

Wow, must be exciting. Somebody, tell me next time a CFL game is on so I can watch it. Are they televised in the US?

Yeah -- used to be exciting... but this year they really screwed up the schedule and they, for the first time in a LLOOOONNNGGGG time, don't have the traditional Winnipeg vs. Saskatchewan matchup on Labor Day Weekend... sux.
You can't get it in the US of A unless you have a dish that airs the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC)... it IS possible to find that package... somewhere... but hard to find... besides, the NFL has more excitement because of the 50 000-plus stadiums... plus better quality WRs, IMO.

My local team is the Jets. I would have to question their playing ability. I could watch the Giants then maybe...
