View Full Version : Repeat?

I have a question... will anyone, not necessarily the Devils, EVER repeat again?
Personally, I don't think it will be possible for any NHL team to repeat ever again. Look at this season. I mean, any one of Ottawa, Philly, New Jersey, Washington, Dallas, Detroit, Colorado, or maybe even St. Louis could win the Stanley Cup this year!
The teams are THAT close.
Hockey broadcasters always promote their own sport by saying, "The Stanley Cup is the hardest trophy in pro sports to win," and this year it is most definitely that way. I just can't believe how many teams are ssssoooo good this season.
However, does anyone think that maybe the Devils or Avs or someone else really stands out that could repeat within the next five years?
Although they talk about depleted talent in the NHL, the top 8 or 10 teams in the league are LOADED, and any of those top 8 or 10 teams could go all the way this year.
No one will stand out of the group this year is surely close and i don't think its ever possible to guess the winner unless ur damn lucky..........
Lee, I see your point about the NHL having so much parity between teams and so many having a good shot at the Cup, but "never say never". It seems to me the Devils have been playing pretty well down the stretch from what I've seen, I think they could very well repeat, barring injuries!

i agree with never say never, the only thing i can say for sure is " when the puck drops in the post season, it is a whole new league"all bets are off and the best " playoff " team will win.!!!!!!

You have to win soooo many games to get the to Cup that is super hard.
I think any team can win it once the playoffs come along. Look at Washington's run, its anyone's game.

I mean, never mind Washington! -- look at Boston and Carolina!!!... they're beating each other up without even playing each other for the final playoff berth... whoever gets that last 8th spot is going to be a chore for New Jersey/Ottawa to beat in the first round because Boston/Carolina will be hot going into the post season!!

;D the n.h.l playoffs are the greatest show on earth,drives my wife crazy though, i put two t.v's together and i have the pip working on another broadcast. ( although i find the pip tends to obstruct my view of play and i spend alot of time moving it from corner to corner on the screen so i can see whats happening , pain in the butt sometimes )but al in all i have a great time in post season .here in quebec i expected alot of hockey fans but , unless it concerns the montreal canadians or the minor league teams here in quebec , they don't seem to care. it's reeeeeeally scaaaaaary ;eek;

I think any team could repeat. It would just take a lot of hard work, no injuries to top players, and maybe some luck. But looking at the talent right now, a different team could win the next several Stanley Cups.
its all on luck and confidence..........

I say that whenever I watch the Yankees. I also say it whenever I see a team like the Cardinals beat the Braves in the NLCS.
Note: Move this to the "Other Sports" board....
