The weird world of Steven (Turk) Wendell will continue at Shea Stadium, ushered in by a contract as odd as the reliever himself.

Turk Wendell and his sharks' teeth necklace will be back with the Mets for three more years.
The Mets and Wendell announced yesterday they had agreed to a three-year contract that will guarantee him $9,399,999.99, and could pay $9,999,999.99 if Wendell meets some easy incentives.

Will this guy help the Mets? One thing's for sure: he is odd!

In my opinion, one thing is also for sure: Middle Relievers are being paid TOO much!

I love Wendell. It is so cool to watch him on the mound and do some really freaky stuff. He is my favorite middle-reliever in baseball. He is a pretty decent pitcher too.

I don't have a favorite middle reliever. But, I have a favorite closer... Mariano Rivera. Quiet person, not arrogant, goes out to the mound, blows one by you, gets the job done, walks off the field. A class act.

Yeah, I Rivera is just so dominant and pretty quiet guy too. Wish the Mets had someone like him who doesn't do horrible in the postseason.

RP who are "in control" like Rivera tend to last longer than the "animated" ones like Benitez, as well.
