Well, it was in a Toronto vs. Tampa Bay game, so it might not get on the highlite reel, but it REALLY SHOULD BE!!!

Tony Batista (3B, TOR) hit a home run 401 fett to straight center field.

No biggie, right?... WRONG... he broke the bat on the play... the top four fifths of the bat broke off -- he was left with just the handle.... awesome play!!

The announcers said they have never seen that before!... anyone else?... I certainly haven't!

Not that I know of. :)

That is quite remarkable. Usually, you just see a weak pop up or grounder when the bad breaks. Shows you how much power that guy has and can generate in that stance of his.

Right -- from the side view, it did look like it was going to be a pop up, straight to the pitcher.... well... it did go in the direction of the pitcher... a little further than that, though! :)

That is pretty amazing that a hit with a broken bat made it all the way over the fence.

Sounds cool.

If this happened Vs. the Yankees, I wouldn't be surprised if Clemens threw the bat at Batista :)

Well, I would have just taken it to Shea the next day and threw it at Piazza from the stands while he took BP. :D

That would be funny. I would then go to Yankee Stadium and throw it at Jeter. Then you will still win the World Series though.

What did Jeter ever do to you? :( (Beside put 4 rings on his fingers?)

He's a great guy but he's playing for a team I don't like.

I still remember Jeter from when he played in Columbus.

I remember that. He got Minor League Player of the Year in 1994 I think. I have some of his minor league baseball cards.

I have some minor league cards of Jeter too. Maybe we'll be rich some day, Wedge ;), although thats highly unlikely. :)

What are you talking about? I'm going to be rich no matter what.
