Move over Yankees, the Philadelphia Phillies will be our next World Series champions! First we sweep the Marlins (who, I might add, recently won the World Series), next, the world!
Note the sarcasm ... I'm just happy that the team may be competitive enough to give me something to watch in the summer. Ever since Joe Carter hitting the homerun in 1993, things have been horrible baseball-wise in Philly. Now I'm hoping this good young squad has a shot at the playoffs!
Who's your "cinderella" team this year?

Well... not really sure. Maybe the A's until the Yankees knock them off. :D

Since I wrote that post, the Phillies have lost two straight. Hopefully it won't mean another long season.

Well the Mets just need more pitching. Glendon Rusch and Appier :(

Well, we'll see how they do today, then, because Lieter is pitching vs. the Expos.....

Wedge, Appier is a fine pitcher but Trachsel isn't. The Yanks won't win with their pen. They got Rivera and Mendoza but not much else. I am going with the M's.

Yeah. The Yankes haven't looked too hot.

Someone in our pen will have to step up or a new guy will have to immerge. If there is a problem, I think it can be fixed. :)

When I wrote my original post, it was a joke. But let me say, I'm totally shocked at how great the Phillies are playing right now. They're five or six games up in the East, and have one of the best records in the majors! Who woulda thought that "Mr. 19 Losses" Omar Daal would start the season 5-0?

Who would have thought the Mets #2 pitcher would be Glendon Rusch........
Shows how good they are doing.

I agree with Wedge, the Rockies are teh Cinderella ( or darkhorse, whatever you prefer)of teh NL, they hit like an All Star Team, and their pitching is killer, Hampton is my Cy Young winner, Neagle is 3-1 and pitching great, Pedro astacio is having his best year at what 4-2? A perfect starting three,Villone is alright and the rewst are acceptional, but then ther is.....ughhhh Brian Bohannon, I really don'y understand why they start this guy? He is terrible, can you name a good year he had? they should send him down do teh minors or toss him in teh bullpen, no he should retire!!!!!!! What do you think?

I remember Bohanon on the Mets. Now maybe we can get him back and toss Steve Trachsel.

Although their start is incredible (and unexpected), I don't think you can call a team that went to the ALCS last year a Cinderella.

Who's a cinderella? The M's? They lost Rodriguez in the off-season, who would expect them to be doing so well? My pick for the AL west would have been the A's before the start of the season.
