Can anyone else remember the last time the race for the final 2 playoff spots in the Eastern Conference was so close!?.... or what about in the West, where just 2 days ago, the final four spots were up for anyone!!!

There's still two days left in the regular season (ends Sunday, April 8) to determine the seeding that everyone will finish, but now, all the playoff spots are full.

Too bad for the Bruins, huh?... they could wind up with the same amount of points as Carolina and still not make the playoffs.

If anyone's been sleeping in a grave somewhere, here are the playoff teams and current seedings (an asterisk, *, by a team means that they will definitly finish in the seeding that they are in now... everyone else can juggle around a bit, but everyone that can make the playoffs HAS)

EAST
1. New Jersey (can finish no lower than 2nd)
2. Ottawa (can finish no higher than 1st)
3. *Washington
4. Buffalo (can finish no lower than 5th)
5. Philadelphia (can finish as high as 4th, as low as 6th)
6. Pittsburgh (can finish no higher than 5th)
7. Toronto (can finish no lower than 8th)
8. Carolina (can finish no higher than 7th)
..What a race!!!... I mean, the final two days have never meant so much for as long as I can remember for THIS many teams.... The race to watch for here is the battle for 7th and 8th spot. Carolina and Toronto would both LOVE to play Ottawa more than New Jersey, even if Ottawa winds up as the #1 seed. Want to make it more interesting?... Ottawa and Toronto finish their seasons today facing each other!!!... of course, the races for spots 4, 5, adn 6 are exciting, but the one for 7th and 8th is the one I'm particularly interested in!

WEST
1. *Colorado
2. *Detroit
3. *Dallas
4. *St. Louis
5. San Jose (can finish no low than 6th)
6. Edmonton (can finish as low as 8th, as high as 5th)
7. Los Angeles (can finish as high as 6th, as low as 8th)
8. Vancouver (can finish as high as 6th, as low as 8th)
...not as many battles for positions as the East, but still... quite exciting!... the main thing to watch for here is the race for 5th spot... definitley the most important, because the Blues are REALLY struggling lately, despite their 101-point season. However finishes 5th (San Jose or Edmonton) has a much better match-up versus St. Louis than if they have to play one of the first three seeds.
