Who will win the Western Conference Quarter Finals between the Colorado Avalanche (1) and Vancouver Canucks (8)?

At first glance, you might say the first-seeded Avalanche, but who were the opponents of the 1994 Stanley Cup Championship team, the New York Rangers?

The EIGHTH-seeded Vancouver Canucks.... in 1994, the Canucks were also seeded eighth, and were down 3-0 (or was it 3-1?), but came back to tie up the series 3-3... lost Game Seven. Nevertheless, VERY remarkable for an 8th-placed team.

I don't think it will happen this year, though. The Avs are just too strong. I think the Avs will win, hands down.

The Avalanche are just one of the best teams right now in hockey. There's almost no way they will lose to the 8th seed.

Everyone knows my feelings on the Avs. I call them in a sweep, they are just too hot right now. St. Patrick hopes to bring another present to COL.

Well... this has, undoubtedly, been one of the best first-round series, despite the lopsided score of the series (3-0, Colorado).

However, there's one issue I want to bring up -- Vancouver booing the American National Anthem.

Now, in all the media reports, people said, "It wasn't directed at the Avs, it was directed at the USA."

Of course it is!... BUT, not one news report on TV or the internet I've read said what I think is the REAL case for the boos of the Star Spangled Banner -- The NBA's Vancouver Grizzlies.

I guess all the media outlets forgot that Vancouver's basketball team was moving the U.S. of A. next season. That is what I think was the fuel for the boos, IMO.

It happened in Winnipeg right before the Jets left (though not as well as Vancouver)... it happened in Vancouver right before the Grizzlies left.

Like I said, I would still cheer for the Jets/Coyotes or the Grizzlies/Memphis if they would have moved within Canada... but they didn't, so I think the fans have every to be angry.

What I think the NHL has got to fix, though, is America not playing the Canadian national anthem when the All-Star game is in the USA, and Canada not playing the American national anthem when the All-Star game is in Canada.... but that's another story... my question is, does anyone else have opinions regarding the Vancouver fans two nights ago?

Lee, agreed.

Those Boos are most likely to the USA for taking Vancouver away from the city and the anger is showing.

As far as the anthem topic is concerned, here is another view point. Why play CAN and USA, why not play the Russian for the Bure's, the Swedish for the Forsberg's, and the Czech for the Elise's (sp) ect ect. The only fair way to do it is play whatever country it is in...after all its WORLD vs NA. Although I do see your point, esp since the league is based here and they should play both for NA at least.

i say this is hockey not politics , the nhl has played both anthems sence the beginning and thats the way it should stay, people booing , well let them boo, it dosen't change the game or the outcome, just the level of class the viewer with enough insight sees it. they booed salming ever game and that was just because he was a swede ,he's now a national hero. the bad smells will pass with time.
what was it quinn wrote on the wall " initiate! don't retalieate! good advise. ( my spelling still sucks :D)
