I'd say the biggest thing that irks me about him is when he gets on his soapbox about Bobby Knight and how he screwed at Indiana and when he starts droaning on about Knight, Coach K, Dean Smith, etc.

Oh, in all my "b*tchen" I forgot to mention C Barkley. I can't stand him on TNT. He just comes off as a "hater" to me. It seems that most of the time he's complaining or "haten" on someone. And sometimes if someone disagrees with him, he'll get all loud with that person so they can't speak. I know he's kind of kidding when he does that (he has to be, right?) but it is so rude and annoying when you don't let the other person voice their opinion.

Oh, AMEN!!! I think that is actually what annoys me the most about Vitale (other than the screaming, of course!).

But what's wrong with Dickie screaming if the place all around him is exploding, students jumping up and down, etc.? When there's a fast break and a dunk, and the place erupts, Dickie senses the emotion and gets just as excited. It's an unmatched atmosphere.

As for Barkley, he's great. His voice of reason and skepticality is what makes him great. He is frank and sincere, not generic and bland. Check this out: http://www.clintcam.com/barkley

On Phil Jackson handing out books to his team: "He needs to give that team a Bible. Only God can help them. They're terrible."

IMO there a difference between a stadium full of kids (without mics) erupting and 80 year old man screaming into a mic. I understand his excitement, but as a commentator, he should keep it professional. I think he goes way overboard - and that's what annoys me.

Tom Jackson: Cried like a girl and threatened to quit his gig if ESPN didn't fire Rush Limbaugh when he offered a take on Donovan McNabb. Yeah, this guy is a grade-A cupcake.

Sterling Sharpe: By all accounts was a "difficult" player to coach. He took the SILENT approach with the media for most all of his career, so what better profession for him to take in his post-playing career than a TV hack? Another cupcake.

Jim Rome: Takes self-flagellation to new heights.....or depths. One or the other. If I am subjected to listenership for any length of time I am unfailingly amazed that this asshat actually stays on the air.

ESPN's Sunday night football crew, especially Mike Patrick and Paul Maguire. Joe Theismann is usually terrible, too, but he occasionally says things worth hearing.

I'm pretty neutral on Madden, and I don't hate Buck, although I agree with the general consensus that his pious riot about Randy Moss was way overboard.

Dick Enberg is totally lost as a play-by-play guy, misidentifying people, mispronouncing their names when he does get the right guy, confusing the 26- and 31-yard lines twice when I saw him this Sunday. He reminds me of Pat Summerall around 2001, when people were worried that he was becoming senile.

I initially liked Siragusa, but he is pretty fat. I'm not crazy about him any more, but I dislike sideline reporters in general. Pam Oliver and Suzy Kolber, especially, bother me. Every time Patrick says, "Let's go down to Suzy," I say to my TV, "Let's not." And ever since my roommate mentioned this thing about all sideline reporters being deep-voiced women, I can't stand Sam Ryan on MNF. I apologize if that happens to anyone else now.

In the studio, Chris Berman is intolerable. Michael Irvin is useless and annoying. Stuart Scott and Sean Salisbury are less annoying than they used to be, but I wouldn't shed a tear if I never heard from them again. Away from ESPN, Greg Gumbel falls into that category, too.

Vitale used to REALLY annoy me, but I guess I've gotten used to him, and he usually doesn't bother me now. I have no use for Brent Musburger.

Since he's been called out several times, I'll put in a good word for Musberger-- I really enjoy his college broadcasts with Griese. I think he's prepared and observative, if a little over the top at times. Musberger's actually one of my favorites in the pathetic world of football broadcasters (i don't like many)

But they're so cute when they dress up in their little "winter outfits"... I mean lets face it, they serve no real purpose other than to look good, interview players, and give injury reports. I'll take Suzy ANYDAY over the Fat Goose!!

Keith Jackson - everytime I watch a game announced by him I say "what a f'n idiot" at least five times. The guy screws up constantly. And I hate the sound of his voice.

Dan Fouts - can't stand him....but at least he corrects Jackson's screw-ups.

Not a big Madden fan, but he doesn't come close to annoying me as much as the first two bozos I listed.

How can someone actually not like Keith Jackson? Yes, he's old, and he makes a mistake here or there. Oh well, to each his own. I think he's a jewel.
