Default Ongoing Sports Betting Thread

Boston_Aloha and I decided we wanted to start a sports betting thread. Since we got Marc's blessing, here it is!

Please feel free to post your picks on any sport, and share with us any gambling stories and experiences you've had over the years (including poker). However, please refrain from turning this thread into a soap box for your opinions on online gambling - it will just fall on deaf ears!

I will post my picks and stats from time to time. Remember: this is all in fun - I am not a professional, but I get some good info from other sites. Good Luck!!!

LOL, we all should've seen this coming. Personally I'd rather see "Tarkus' Best of Scantily-Clad Women" thread, but whatever.

When betting on Raiders games, it may be a good idea to take the other, despite the Raiders winning the past two games. Oakland's offense goes nowhere and the defense is stout. Last week's 20 points were very deceiving, considering 14 came from picks off Concussion Ben. How often do teams return an INT for a TD, let alone two in one game?

Andrew Walter has thrown three TD's the entire season and LaMont Jordan has run for only one score. Seattle at -7.5 and at home? I'm not a gambling person, but I'd take that.

EDIT: BTW, I can't wait for usernames like "sportsgamblore" and "winbignowfoos" to start spamming websites here. You brought this on yourself sue.

You are a year late on this thread. Last year I bet on a ton of sporting events . I had to retire though after the I got raped in the NHL and NBA playoffs.

I still make an occasional bet, but not very often. I have only made one all NFL season. I will post any if I make any though.

I do have an ongoing bet that I made after the NBA draft. $10 that JJ Redick wins rookie of the year. The bet is voided if he doesn't play half of the season or more due to an injury.I will probably lose that bet, but JJ Redick is my favorite basketball player, so I made it for fun. That is the only bet I have going right now.

Thanks Ken, I will take that into consideration

I like your insight into the Raiders - in fact, I followed your advice earlier this season on a game involving Oakland (can't remember the other team, I just know they covered the spread against the Silver & Black )

Basketball is back! Yea!!! I have decided to bet the over on all Phoenix games (my records show I did very well doing that last season). Also, tonight I am taking Charlotte at home +1 over Indiana and Lakers/Warriors over 203 total points for the game.....

GREAT idea Sue and Boston!

I think I will be taking Denver at +2 at Pittsburgh. Nothing else in the NFL jumps out at me. I am tempted to take the G-Men at -13 against the Texans at home, but it's tough betting on a heavy fave to cover in the NFL. Haven't looked at CFB yet.

I know it! What's up with that spread? I'm all over that one myself.

Another dog I like this week is Cincy...

Leaning towards the following picks for the weekend:

Jax -9.5 over Tennessee - I will probably tease the points by 7 or 7.5 for a little insurance - Titans bad against the run, Taylor & Jones-Drew could have a field day, Garrard a pretty good QB......

Cincy +3 over Baltimore - Cincy 12-2-1 ATS its last 15 away. Not convinced of Bilick's play-calling......

I have already made one bet so far: 49ers/Vikings over 42.5 total points - 49ers have one of the worst passing D's in the NFL.......

I'm gonna try and give 3 locks each week and see how I do. I didn't know if this was legal on here before so I refrained from putting 'em up earlier. Now thanks to Sue's "hobby" ...it's Vegas in here 24/7!

Anyone take any action on tonight WV - Lou game? I didn't wanna touch it!
Here are my picks thus far:
Dallas / Wash OVER (42)
Cincy +3 (Fast Cash: BIG)
G.B +3 (thinking G.B. and the under parlay) - thanks Sue! I "officially" ended parlay's 2 years ago... but all your talk... got me back into them
I try to limit myself to 3 games per Sunday

My college picks:

Maryland (+20) at Clemson
Indiana (+6) at Minnesota
Ohio (-4.5) at Eastern Michigan
Washington (+16.5) at Oregon
USC(-28) at Stanford

All of my picks this week are road teams; there's a winning formula.

I feel strongest about Indiana (NCAA) and Denver (NFL). I think I might parlay them and forget about everything else.
