Well as you guys know I've been upgrading my old computer. I've gotten a new case, AMD Duron 1ghz processor and a new motherboard. The guy at the place tested my motherboard out today because I haven't been able to get anythign to come on the screen and he said it is working fine. He even installed it in teh case for me. I take it home and go to start it before installing my hard drive and all and I get nothing. He tested it with the PCI video card I'm using and all yet for some reason a home its not working. I know my monitor works and the connections are all good so I don't know whats wrong.
Anyone else have problems building your own pc. This is teh first time I've tried it and so far it's been the biggest pain. While a friend of mine got the same board/processor and it worked no problems whatsoever. |

I know this will sound REALLY stupid and simple, but have you checked the surge protector?

I don't know what could be wrong... maybe the power connections for the MoBo aren't how they're supposed to...
I don't know, but good luck Jag.

Does it make any beeps? Use Google to search TechTV for an article, I'm positive they have one on it. You may have to refine your search a bit, though: http://www.google.com/search?sourcei...er+not+booting

sry guys I've had graduation this weekend and haven't been on much. I tried connecting it directly to the wall and still nothing and no beeps either. But the CPU fan and LED lights will come on.
My video card works I know and i even tried a brand new 64mb one that is in this comp. and it didn't work either. I'll check out that TechTV stuff although I posted over at PC Mechanic and nobody knows why its not working. I've had lots of freinds build comps. and have had no problems at all either. I figured since I know about computers it'd be easy but no such luck. |

I know this sounds stupid, but have you checked all the power connections -- and the I/O switch?

I think U.S. is all whacked out 'cuz North Dakota most defintely isn't south but always tends to get things done early and start late. (my friend from N.D. started school in Sept. and finished in May). Me, meanwhile started the last monday in August and my last exam is the 2nd-to-last monday in June.
Anywho, back to computers my Logitech iTouch Cordless Freedom mouse ran out of batteries last night after 2.5 months and so I put in some new ones... I put in brand that Michael Jordan advertises (Max<something>) and it wouldn't work. I fought and swore at my computer for an hour when I finally took them out, took 2 batteries out of my keyboard, put those in my mouse, and put 2 MJ batteries into the keyboard to replace the 2 I took out of it. MOUSE WORKED. Lesson is: keyboard will use cheap batteries... mouse won't. It likes Panasonic. I asked my physics teacher about this 'cuz we're studying d/c currents and he said to check the types -- alkalyne or somethin like that so I'll check out those differences but it really pissed me off that I wasted an hour last night trying to figure it out.

That's 'alkaline'.
Sheesh, do you think MJ really uses those batteries? Do you think George Dubya uses President's Choice articles?!Holy moly, throw out the MJ batteries... or feed them to your dog (Option B not recommended )
