Nice to see Buehrle finally get some recognition for his defense. Well deserved, in my opinion. Congrats to all the winners.

Not to steal your thunder, catman, but I thought I'd go ahead and post the NL Gold Glove winners:

C: Yadier Molina, Cardinals
1B: Adrian Gonzalez, Padres
2B: Orlando Hudson, Dodgers
3B: Ryan Zimmerman, Nationals
SS: Jimmy Rollins , Phillies
OF: Matt Kemp, Dodgers
OF: Michael Bourn, Astros
OF: Shane Victorino, Phillies
P: Adam Wainwright, Cardinals

Interestingly, 6 of the 9 winners are represented by only 3 teams. Playoff teams seem well represented.

MLB is foolish to release these awards AFTER the season when people's interest as died down. These should be released before or during the postseason.

Mush is right. Jeter is a below-average fielder. He won the award with his bat. Terrible choice.

Kind of surprised Coghlan got the ROY over Happ given Happ was a key player for a division winning team while Coghlan toiled in obscurity on a mediocre team most of the year.

I am kind of surprised the AL vote was as close as it was. Was Elvis Andrus really all that this season? I know he is supposed to be pretty good defensively but he made a lot of errors and only hit .267 with little power this year.

To me Bailey was the slam dunk choice as AL ROY. He saved 26 of 30 opportunities, 1.84 ERA, and 91 Ks in 83 innings.

Zack Greinke wins the AL Cy Young: Royals ace Greinke wins AL Cy Young - MLB News - FOX Sports on MSN
To me, this was a "no-brainer". He was the best pitcher in the AL last season. Had he been on a better team, he might have won 25 games.

The Rockies' Jim Tracy and Angels' Mike Scioscia were honored as Managers of the Year in their respective leagues. Both are very deserving of the honors, IMO.

The whole Awards voting system is flawed when the guy who gets the most 1st place votes ends up third. I have never understood the need to have first, second, third, etc. place votes for an award. Should it not just go to the guy the most people voted for to win it and be done with it?

I think Law is even catching flack from some of his peers at ESPN for leaving Carpenter completely off his ballot.

My main argument is that Keith Law keeps saying that both Vasquez and Lincecum had less run support and less defensive support, but it's a nonsensical argument.

The fact of the matter is that the ultimate goal of baseball is to win by giving up as few runs as possible, and by scoring as many runs as possible. Given this, a pitcher's goal is to allow as few earned runs as possible. ERA reflects a pitchers performance in spite of bad defense (hence Earned Run Average), so his argument for defense is debunked, and his run support argument is even more pathetic considering that doesn't affect a picher's ERA at all.

He also wants to say that no one should be upset, because, according to him, there's very little difference between 3rd and 4th place for Carpenter. But Carpenter, Wainwright, and Lincecum were all so superior to every other pitcher, that none of them should have been left off of anyone's ballot.

My guess is that Keith wanted some face time on TV. Smells like a publicity stunt to me.
