The Mariners are serious about improving their team. The could be quite a force to be reckoned with this season (and for a few years to come)>

They still need a bat in the middle of the order though. They are fooling themselves if they think they can build the lineup around Milton Bradley.

It's okay, doublee. They still have Junior.
![]() No, seriously, I'm happy to see other teams than the Yanks or Sox willing to spend big money to improve their teams. I wish all teams could do that. Baseball needs a salary cap.

Yeah, and Junior to go sit down somewhere. It is sad to see guys like Griffey who do not know when it is time to hang it up. I could almost understand it if he had a shot at 700 homers or 3,000 hits but he would need to play at least 2 or 3 more years to reach the hits mark and probably 4 or 5 years to hit 700 homers.
The only thing a salary cap would accomplish is reining in salaries. It won't get teams to spend more money than they are now. The Pirates and Royals are not going to suddenly start spending $80 million a year on salaries because of a salary cap.
