the guy has got to be the most mediocre coach in the team's history. he settles for 8-8 records, or 9-7 records too easily. the team can't run, can't stop the run, culpepper is having trouble finding all his new wide receivers who were supposed to ease the loss of randy moss. some of these problems are fixable in practice, i'll admit, but tice has to go. dennis green, jerry burns, bud grant, where are you when the vikings need you?

Welcome, Android!
Yeah, it can't be a fun time to be a Vikes fan right now...the only coach more loathed is Martz.

they can fire Mike Tice but what's that going to do?
the man who was supposed to replace Moss, Nate Burleson, has been out w/ an injury and no one is stepping up. their lack of a running game has always been an issue and has been left unaddressed for years now. the defense was supposed to be the real improvement yet surrendered 166 total rushing yards to Dunn and Duckett, each adding a score. the Vikings have always been lacking key components to a winning team. they used to win by playing pitch and catch all day w/ Moss. now it's pitch and interception. this one trick pony finally lost it's legs. |

Comeback Randy!! Minnesota needs you
I go back to my thread from a few weeks back. They just plain suck. Tice is gone and they know they won't have to pay him a fortune as he's one of the worst paid head coaches in the league.

So should they just struggle along all year with a poor coach, or cut him loose now and get someone in there who might be able to motivate the team to get back into the hunt for what is a very weak division.

This is shaping up to be like what happened to Dan Reeves in Atlanta. The Falcons had a great season the year before, Vick had that amazing 45 yard TD run in OT to beat the Vikes, the Falcons walked into Lambeau and defeated Green Bay in the playoffs (something no one ever did previously) and Michael Vick made a big name for himself. The year after (sporting their new uni's) Vick breaks his leg in the preseason, the Falcons put up an awful record and don't make the playoffs- in turn Reeves is fired.
Last season, Culpepper and Moss have monster seasons. The Vikes with a "mooning" Moss defeat Green Bay in the playoffs and then get smoked by Philly. Moss leaves in the offseason, and the Vikes start off looking like they forgot how to play the game. Tice will most likely be fired at the end of the season for something he had no control over. It's sad, Randy was the one being a jerk and a pompas ass and now that he is gone, Tice is probably going to lose his job anyway even if a miracle occurs and the Vikes make the playoffs. If I was in the Vikings front office, I would give Tice one more year after this one and then see what he can do.

right now, other than the 375 wide receivers currently on the roster, the only really tradeable commodity for the vikes is a healthy michael bennett. but then again, bennett staying healthy is as likely as me winning the megamillions lottery, buying the vikes and firing tice myself

I don't see what the big deal is. Sure, they're the worst team in football. But they'll be in first place by Sunday evening... unless Tice somehow figures out how to lose in a bye week. Wait a minute, we should be nervous...

how about the houston texans? they don't have a WR who has caught for over 100 total yards yet. vikings have four. texans avg 3.6 yards a play and 198.3 yards per game- the worst in the NFL. they are also the only team that doesn't avg at least 10 pts per game. vikings 5.2 yards a play and 308.3 yards per game. last night on ESPN's NFL Live apparently at least two unnamed players have spoken out to the media and said they feel that coach Tice quit on them last week and they have lost respect for him. |

I meant what i said about bieng worst, but i'll add the "so far". I could agree with them being 2nd worst, i suppose, after the Texans. But the Vikes have been worse than the other "bad" teams out there: San Fran, GB, NO, Det, Bears, Titans, Bills, Browns-- i'll argue you an any of them. The Vikes do have talent if they ever come together, but i'm looking at actual performance so far. Hell, they only have to be better than the Bears Lions and Packers to get in the playoffs... that wouldn't require a ton of improvement.
