Lightbulb Cris Carter reaches agreement with Dolphins

Report: WR Cris Carter reaches agreement with Dolphins

http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news/200...rdolphins.html

BRISTOL, Connecticut (Ticker) - Cris Carter may be leaving Dan Marino and joining the Miami Dolphins.

ESPN reported Saturday that Carter, the NFL's second all-time leading receiver with 1,093 catches, has reached a verbal agreement to play with the Dolphins for the remainder of the 2002 season that is contingent on him passing a physical next week.

The Dolphins have not confirmed the report.

An injury to receiver Oronde Gadsden turned into the break Carter was looking for to get back into the NFL.

The South Florida Sun-Sentinel reported Saturday that Gadsden decided to undergo season-ending surgery to repair a torn ligament in his left wrist after failing to agree on a contract extension. The fifth-year receiver is slated to become an unrestricted free agent after the 2002 season.

The Dolphins apparently were so incensed with Gadsden's demand for a new contract that they decided to pursue Carter, who caught 73 passes for 871 yards last season but turns 37 next month.
I don't like Cris Carter as a person, but feel he still has some gas left in the tank. He just wanted to get out of Minnesota as soon as possible and quit babysitting Randy Moss. If the Dolphins weren't Super Bowl bound before, this helps their cause!

Let's see - the Dolphins are 5-1, so that means they have ten games left; so I suppose there is enough time for Carter to get his usual 1,000 yards on 1,000 catches!

It 'tis official, fellas: http://cbs.sportsline.com/nfl/story/5820797

Get this: Dan Marino apparently convinced Carter to rejoin the team. Personally, I think it is a win-win for both parties. I don't particularly care for Carter, but felt his leaving of the game was far too premature. If Tim Brown and Jerry Rice can do it, so can Carter...

Anthony the Dolphins are 5-2...they lost to Kansas City 48-30, and to Buffalo 23-10! So, that gives Carter 9 games to accomplish that feat!

Lets see if Carter mellows out a little bit this time around! I don't really care much for him at all, but he may help the Dolphins a little bit!

At the time I made that post the Dolphins were still 5-1 (1:18 AM PDT on Sunday the 20th). Nice try though!

The Dolphins took the wrong guy out of the HBO show, they should've took the guys name Dan, that's the position they really need...

Or Troy Aikman. There are again rumors of him leading the team. Wow, would that be weird to see Carter/Aikman.

Yeah Aikman is still pretty young (How old was he when he retire!? 23!?). I think he's even younger than Rodney Peete...

Young, he is. I believe he is about 34 now, but the question with him is his concussions. He was prone to them late in his career and if he returns, he risks injuring himself further and perhaps leaving permanent damage.

Yea, Aikman (like Carter) has a lot left to give in my opinion. The difference is, Carter is healthy. He can be a top receiver still in the NFL. If he quietly does his job, then the Dolphins will look pretty good come playoff time.
