Peerless Price got traded from Buffalo to Atlanta for the 23rd pick in this years draft. Is this all the Bills could get for Price? I think he's a good receiver who will really be coming into his own the next few years. I don't know, maybe I'm missing something here. What do you guys think?

I think they overpaid. Remember, Price has never been a #1 receiver in the NFL before, and didn't have a breakout year until the Bills got a QB who could get the ball to him, and an offense that wants to go deep more often than not when they pass. As a #1, he's unproven, and the Falcons likely could have gotten a little deeper on the defensive or offensive line with that 23rd pick.
Also remember, that 1st round pick is all the Bills really wanted. They probably tried to extract a little more, like an additional 4th round pick next year, or a conditional pick, something of that nature. But, they got what they wanted. Leaves the Bills with Moulds, one of Terrell Owens' top 3 receivers in the league (and rightly so), and Josh Reed, who played well in the slot last season. It could be that the Bills will trade up. Word is Minnesota is looking to unload the #7 pick. Andre Johnson/Taylor Jacobs is/are likely to available at the #7 pick. I don't think they'll do that, though. Donohoe is pretty good at getting a starter out of the bottom half of the first round. Dave

i like this trade for both teams. Buffalo got another 1st round chice which if they keep both can get them a receiver and another guy to fill a gap. for Atlanta they badly needed a #1 Receiver and despite the fact Price has never been a #1 guy before i think he has the potential to do so. good trade on both ends i think

Buffalo didn't have a 1st round pick. They gave it up to get Bledsoe last draft. So, they only have this one, and Atlanta presently has none.

forgot about the Bledsoe pick. that now changes my mind a little about this since i forgot about that other pick. i'd say Atlanta may have gotten the better of the deal

I think I have to see Peerless prove himself before I declare Atlanta the winner in this move. Also, interesting to see who the Bills grab with that 23rd pick.

Dave I couldnt agree with you more. Its a whole different world being the #1 guy like you stated, when your the #2 guy and are surrounded by Moulds and Reed and have Bledsoe slingin' it to ya. Different world man. Now your drawing the best corner and coverages are rolled your way, less room to operate.
Chris Mortensen said on WFAN this afternoon that the Bills will be offering a sheet to Takeo Spikes and Sam Adams and looking to draft a DLinman or LB with this pick. He went on to say that Donohue feels they are set with there offense and they want to focus on Defense. He also said Donohue was ecstatic(sp) about this trade becaue they went in thinking that they could hopefully get a high 2nd round pick for Price and Atlanta ended up accepting Buffalos first offer(the first round pick). Donohue looked no further and jumped at getting the first rounder. I dont want to make this out to sound like I think Atlanta messed up, I think it was a good move for them also, but I love it for Buffalo.

The Bills could have a really great defense next year. They have a decent-to-good secondary, they've made moves already to improve their linebacking, adding Spikes will make it dominating, and if they land Sam Adams to stick at NT, they could stuff everybody all the time.

I like this move for the Falcons ...they're a few spots away from really contending and getting a playmaker like Price fills one of their holes. If you look at it from their side, it's a huge gain. I really think he has his best days ahead of him and playing in a dome will make him even faster. He can handle being a No. 1.

The way it turned out, you could say that the Bills in effect traded Peerless Price for Drew Bledsoe. Now if they're smart they'll sign Curtis Conway (to take over Price's spot) before the Eagles beat them to it.
And who else is left for Philly to go after? They did sign former Oakland fullback Jon Ritchie today, which is not a bad move - but they had better start thinking about landing a true speed receiver to keep Donovan McNabb from being blitzed to death. As far as Atlanta goes, if you're an NFC East, North or West team, you had better count on winning your division next year if you plan on making the playoffs - since it's just about a cinch that both NFC wild cards are going to be snapped up by the NFC South (which drains all the suspense out of the race for the division title in the South, but that's a subject for another thread). |

Great move for the Atlanta Falcons, look for Gaylor to play along side of Price next year. Bills got hosed though, they could have sent him to minnesota for there first round pick. But what comes around goes around. In a league where some 7th round picks are betetr then #1 picks, we get this. Good luck to both teams.
