I am re-posting my reply to another thread here to serve as a reference:
The banning of users is not a public issue, and if you want to know why someone is banned, contact the person yourself. Threads started with the intent of undermining our administrative decisions will be removed, and if another poster continues to make it an issue, he or she will be banned, as well. I am not going to tolerate the drama and arguments that have ensued in the past over the banning of users. What is done is done and will never be reversed. Posting messages on behalf of a banned user, which has also been done, will not be tolerated and will result in banning of the person posting on behalf of the banned person.
Despite all of this, banning is still a last resort measure and it is not something we like to do. However, stricter rules have to be put into place because the time and effort wasted in the past defending our decision to ban someone is not acceptable. Those types of decisions are private and will be private in the future.
Because we want to keep this community "above the fray" and keep it mature, professional, and intelligent, we have to enforce rules against useless drivel. In fact, if you look at the Community Guidelines
, we have a specific references to this issue:
Furthermore, do not post provocative, outrageous, or pointless messages only to get a response from others, i.e. "trolling." Repeat violators will be permanently banned.
If you have a problem or a complaint, direct it to the administrators and/or moderators, not to the boards. They will then take the appropriate actions. We reserve the right to ban flagrant offenders when deemed necessary, with or without prior warning.
With that said, thanks for your understanding and happy holidays.
