Default Brandon Jacobs Fined $10K For Helmet Toss

And that's not the only reason he's in the news:

Brandon Jacobs tells Tom Coughlin he doesn't want to be traded, fined $10,000 for helmet toss

So Jacobs is pissed in NY he almost injures a fan in frustration, and he wants to stay on that team?

He should have been suspended at least a game, probably 2. Come on you can't throw ANYTHING into the stands, especially not a helmet. If a fan throws anything on the field we go to jail, if a player throws anything into the stands he gets a slap on the wrist. What is 10 k really, the dude makes hundreds of thousands of dollars.

As I understand the article, Jacobs is not complaining about the fine - and it has nothing to do with his denying the rumors that he wants to be traded.

Yet Jacobs' situation does bring up an unrelated point: That being that both Jacobs and Ahmad Bradshaw should be starting, because two-back sets need to make a comeback in the NFL - and the Giants are probably the single NFL team best-suited to use this formation, in that Jacobs and Bradshaw complement one another perfectly from a style-of-play standpoint.

And my guess is that the 18-game schedule could very well spark considerable interest in two-back sets, as few if any running backs could carry a team's rushing load singlehandedly once the league does add the two extra regular-season games.

I disagree, the players will have to learn and adapt if the game adds two more. Its simple, you get paid, you better perform, ALL SEASON LONG

I'm actually in the same boat with Jacobs this week. I decided to start him instead of Ruben Droughns who is his backup. You also HAVE to go with Grant. He's filling in nicely.

I don't think you quite get where I'm coming from here. The impetus for the change won't come from individual running backs complaining about it, but rather from the coaches, etc., who won't believe that one running back in general - and the scatback types in particular - will be able to physically hold up in the longer season.

Furthermore, the approach favored by owners like Daniel Snyder; namely, build a roster consisting primarily of aging veterans who appear to have "back class" (to borrow a horse-racing phrase) because they went to a Pro Bowl ten years before - will fall by the wayside entirely, as such a team will never be able to get through an 18-game season.
