Thumbs up Denial Crumbling In Philly: First Torrey Smith, Now LeGarrette Blount

For the longest time the Eagles have resisted signing speedy wide receivers and power running backs. Well first they inked Torrey Smith, the 2015 yards-per-catch champion - and now they have reeled in a big fish indeed by signing the NFL's best power running specialist in LeGarrette Blount.

Will the Eagles now join what figures to be a large crowd in the NFC - especially if the Super Bowl Runner-Up Jinx holds and the Falcons fall completely out of the picture?

Why not? Atlanta might have the worst Super Bowl Runner-Up hangover in history, given the particular circumstances of their SB loss, plus their defense was still terrible even last year, ranking 25th in the league. And Dallas won't sneak up on anybody this year.

Remember the 2002 season, when no AFC team finished better than 11-5? Well no NFC team might finish better than 10-6 in 2017 - or 10-5-1 because there will likely be six to ten tie games this season (see my other thread).
