Thumbs up Respectful dissent

It's not my place to argue about decisions to close threads (I respect the judgement of the mods, and especially of Marc about when to shut down a thread)

But ...

Even most of the most heated discussions on these boards have ended with a handshake and an agreement to disagree.

I don't subscribe to any other boards, but I do look at the AOL boards once in a while and there's some genuine hatred on there, which is gloriously absent from this site.

And I've heard, from postings on these boards, that other sites are even worse.

To an extent, I think that's attributable to the moderators doing their jobs and warning posters who get out of hand -- and killing threads when they see that needs to be done.

But I think there's a little self-policing that goes on here. I can see where some of us -- on all sides of various arguments -- pull back sometimes out of respect for one another and to preserve the overall civility of the S-C boards.

I respect that.

So everybody -- Marc, the mods, and my fellow posters -- take a big attaboy out of petty cash.

I have posted new threads from time to time that later on I have asked a MOD to delete it or close it. Nothing was wrong with the thread and the MODs did point that out but I felt for the over all good of the site it should be pulled, moved or closed. Some of my best intentions sometimes come across wrong, thanks to the MODs for pulling my topics when asked.
