Game Day Ritual The Next Generation of Fantasy Baseball Here is how the Playoff Pick'Em Contest is going to work: 1. Correct picks in this week's wild-card games will be worth 1 point each. 2. Correct picks in next week's divisional playoff games will be worth 2 points each. 3. Correct picks in the conference championship games, to be played on January 23, will be worth 3 points each. 4. A correct pick in the Super Bowl, to be played on February 6, will be worth 4 points. 5. Tie-breakers: In this week's thread, each picker will select the two teams they predict will reach the Super Bowl, and also pick both the winner and the loser. If, after the Super Bowl, two (or more) pickers are tied in points, the winner will be determined by applying the following steps, in order: ...1. Both Super Bowl winner and loser picked correctly. ...2. Super Bowl winner only picked correctly. ...3. Predicted Super Bowl winner loses Super Bowl AND predicted Super Bowl loser wins Super Bowl. ...4. Super Bowl loser only picked correctly. ...5. Predicted Super Bowl winner loses Super Bowl. ...6. Predicted Super Bowl loser wins Super Bowl. ...7. Both predicted Super Bowl winner and loser reach conference championship game. ...8. Predicted Super Bowl winner only reaches conference championship game. ...9. Predicted Super Bowl loser only reaches conference championship game. ...10. Both predicted Super Bowl winner and loser reach divisional playoffs. ...11. Predicted Super Bowl winner only reaches divisional playoffs. ...12. Predicted Super Bowl loser only reaches divisional playoffs. ...13. Overall record in the 11 playoff games. NOTE: If the status of one predicted Super Bowl team only does not break the tie, the status of the other predicted Super Bowl team under the subsequent steps will be used (e.g., A and B tied under Step 2 by selecting the Super Bowl winner correctly but neither of their selections for Super Bowl loser got to the Super Bowl, and A's pick for Super Bowl loser reached the conference championship game while B's pick for Super Bowl loser only got as far as the divisional playoffs; in that case A wins the tie-breaker under Step 7). Here is the wild-card playoff schedule: Saturday, January 8: St. Louis at Seattle (NFC), 4:30 pm N.Y. Jets at San Diego (AFC), 8:00 pm Sunday, January 9: Denver at Indianapolis (AFC), 1:00 pm Minnesota at Green Bay (NFC), 4:30 pm First Round Byes: Pittsburgh and New England (AFC), Philadelphia and Atlanta (NFC) The deadline for posting your picks is the kickoff of the earliest game listed for each week. Pickers may enter and re-enter the contest at will throughout its duration, but any games for which no picks had been made count as automatic losses. Failure to include predicted Super Bowl winner and loser in this week's thread results in said picker being placed behind those who do if a tie in points exists at the end of the contest. The winner will receive a free NFL Pocket Pro helmet, the team of which is at the winner's discretion. This prize is being donated by MaddEnemy (thank him in advance, please). If MaddEnemy himself wins the contest, this prize will go to the runner-up. So without further adieu, good luck everyone! (There is also a separate Playoff Pointspread Contest; for details refer to that thread).

Hi, it's Frank Caliendo here. My friend Anthony gave me his user ID and his password, and has given me permission to make his picks for him.
In this week's Wild Card games, I like the Packers to kick the Vikings out the door after Minnesota got in through the back door last week, I like the Chargers to ground the Jets, the Colts to bust the Broncos, and in my upset pick, I like the Rams over the Seahawks because Shaun Alexander will be too busy trying to pull the knife out of his back to gain too many yards against the St. Louis defense. Oh, and Anthony told me that I also have to pick who's going to be in the Super Bowl, and who will win it; so I'll go with Ben Roethlisberger and the Steelers to beat Brett Favre and the Packers in Jacksonville on February 6. Back to you, J.B.

Saturday, January 8:
Rammstein, the German metal heard told me to pick the Rams. I'm scared to say no.... St. Louis beats Seattle. A couple of friends in the Steve Miller Band sang 'Jet Airliner' at a private party last season before their game with Dallas... They lost 17-6. San Diego trounces the Jets. Sunday, January 9: The Colts pounded Denver last year after losing the finale to them. Same situation.... same result. Colts clobber Broncos. Lambeau Field has witnessed potholes towards the end of the Brett Favre era, but they still play Minnesota tough and get by. Packers move on past the Vikings. Super Bowl Prediction: San Diego over the ATL. Weird pick... Doubt it comes true... But that's my pick...
