Default Will the White Sox repeat in 2006?

It's difficult to repeat, but by signing Paul Konerko to a long term deal that really helps their chances. And if DH Jim Thome stays healthy and hit 40 or more homeruns watchout AL. Will their starting pitching stay intact?

I heard yesterday Thome is as healthy as he's ever been (or in the best shape ever) of his career? I don't know about that... he's getting up there.
Sox can repeat if their pitching is a great as last year. Will 5th man Garland be as effective? It all comes down to pitching.

if their top 4 starting pitchers return w/ ERA's under 4 then it's certainly possiable. Thome's health is another big part to a repeat. no team in the 2000's has even made it back to the world series to have a chance to repeat so it'll be tough.

Well, fortunately they managed to re-sign Konerko so Thome will play very little in the field so that should, at the very least, help with his sketchy back. At this stage the White Sox have as good a chance as any.

But, it is still a bit early to tell as I don't know that the Angels and the Red Sox are done dealing as of yet. If Schilling gets healthy and Beckett pans out for Boston could be right there. But, a lot depends on what happens with Man-Ram.

If the Angels manage to get Manny without having to give away too much then they have to be considered as legit as well.

Thome's a strikeout machine, i don't know how that's going to work. So many things went right for that team last year that i doubt they'll even sniff the World Series in 2006...

If Manny doesn't go to Cleveland I would love to see him in Baltimore.

I'm scared of the Halos if they land Manny. They'd have some sick power:
Manny, Guerrero, Anderson, Molina & Rivera.

As to the White Sox repeating, if the Indians can come up with a decent closer, the chances are dramatically diminished. The Indians are superior at most of the positions (including 1B and DH) and are a lot younger. They have much more to play for as well. Not to mention the bulls-eye that will be on the White Sox pitchers foreheads when they throw their first pitch of the game all season.
I don't see the Sox repeating, even in the AL Central.

What about Wickman? 45 saves last season.

Wickman is a free agent, hence the statement. They either need to re-sign Wickman or, at the very least, find someone comparable if not better.

Right, I'd be very surprised if the Tribe don't resign him after the season he had.

Wickman's saves are usually interesting, but effective. If the Indians can retain his services, they will be in the driver's seat to win the AL Central.
