Default Packers vs. Seahawks Thread

Okay, guys, it's a rematch of a few years ago where Matt Hasselbeck infamously said "we'll take the ball and we're going to score." Oops. Holmgren vs. Favre. Who ya got?

I have to go with the Packers at Lambeau.

Seahawks. Holmgren and Hasselbeck get revenge.

My crappy luck is in play here....

Disaster in Lambeau. No revenge rematch for Favre in Dallas.
No storybook scenarios. Seattle wins.

The last time the Seahawks won a playoff game on the road, was in the 80's. Its not happening this year.

I never buy reasoning like this. "The last time this...",
"They've never done this..." etc.

Recall a few years ago, when people were saying, "well, Green Bay
has never lost a playoff game at home", and then they got killed
by Atlanta, for crying out loud?

All trends eventually change, and having Seattle win a playoff game
on the road, again, is going to happen sooner or later.

And...if Green Bay DOES win, and they go on to play the Cowboys,
let's remind everyone who is picking Green Bay in that one that
"Brett Favre has never won in Dallas."

I'll have to keep an eye on the weather for this weekend at Lambeau, but the Packers definately have the advantage, having the better player 80% of the time, if you compare both entire rosters, player by player. It will be a close game, but the packers depth at d-line will eventually wear out Seattle's offensive line, and Seattle won't be able to cover the playmakers on the Packer offense. A windy, rainy, or warm day could help Seattle, however. When Atl beat the Packers at Lambeau in '02, they beat a team ravaged by injuries at the thawed tundra. A relatively healthy, rested Packer team won't be beaten like that this Saturday.

Next weekend it will be the Packers at home again against the Giants, the Cowboys would have to beat them first for Favre's record in Dallas to even matter.

"We want the ball, and we're gonna score!"

I think I've said it somewhere else here already, but I don't trust the Seahawks. They played in at least as bad a division as the Pats this year, and didn't get nearly as good results. They had far too hard a time beating the Skins, allowing them to take that 4th quarter lead. I haven't seen enough of them during the year, so it may just be lack of exposure to them, but I don't like their chances against a healthy GB team on the road.

Still don't know why so many people are heavily betting on GB.

The Pack, as much as I live and die by them, are admittedly
not as good as their record. They've got injuries on their d-line
and in their secondary. This is also Mike McCarthy's FIRST
playoff game, against Mike Holmgren, who's been in the playoffs
about a thousand times. Seattle's got momentum. Green Bay
is due to be flat.

There will be a little bad weather. Cold.
Seattle will go up early 14-0 in the first quarter. The Pack will
try a comeback for a bit in the second quarter, but they will
do another classic end-of-the-first-half collapse, and find
themselves down 24-7 at the half. In the third, GB gets a FG,
Seattle gets a TD, and Crosby blows another FG attempt.
With another FG by Seattle in the fourth, and a late desperation
TD by GB (missed 2-pt attempt), final score 34-16 Seattle.

Also...anyone who picks NY over Dallas is smoking dope.
