Chelsea, Tottenham Stars Lead Race

With the Premier League entering the final part of the season, talk has already started about the Premier League player of the season award. With Chelsea looking likely to land the league title, it is no surprise to see their players feature heavily in discussions. Another club who have had a good season is Tottenham, and they also provide candidates for the award.

The spine of the Chelsea squad, featuring N'Golo Kante, Eden Hazard, and Diego Costa, is a big reason why they are clear at the top of the league. All three have been fantastic throughout the season, Kante has protected the defense superbly, Hazard has been a creative force, and Costa has scored plenty of goals. As a trio, they give Chelsea everything they need to be successful. It would be a big surprise if Chelsea didn't lift the Premier League title and providing they do, you would have to say it will be long odds on that one of those three players takes home the player of the season award.

Moving onto Tottenham, their two English stars, Dele Alli and Harry Kane, have been in fantastic form all season. Tottenham are a joy to watch going forward and with Alli and Kane at the forefront of pretty much every attacking move, it is easy to see why both players will be considered for the award. Just like Eden Hazard for Chelsea, Dele Alli has turned into the creative spark Tottenham need in midfield, contributing both goals and assists on a regular basis. The improvement he has shown this season, if he continues at that rate, he is going to be some player in two or three years, don't forget he is only 20-years-old. Harry Kane is the favorite to lift the Golden Boot award and if he does that then his chances of being the player of the season will only improve.

Elsewhere away from those two clubs, Alexis Sanchez and Jermain Defoe deserve honorable mentions for their form this season. Sanchez has led Arsenal all season and without him, they would be very ordinary. Jermain Defoe has managed to score 14 goals, despite playing in a poor Sunderland team and without him they would be relegated.

The final few games of the season will decide who takes home the player of the season award, although right now it looks likely to go to a Chelsea player. With three outstanding performers in their team, it could go to either one, although make sure you don't rule out someone from Tottenham taking home the award.
