Super Bowl XL: Steelers vs. Seahawks

It's finally here, the countdown to the big game. I will be watching in high-def for the first time this year, and both teams come in playing really well. Post your picks and discussion here.

I'll be watching in HD as well, 62 inch style baby. Go Steelers!

Steelers are just to hot. Also most of these potential storybook endings like the Bus could have usally pan out. So I think the Steelers in what will hopefully be a competitve game.

In a way the Steelers deserve it being a #6 seed and rolling thru the AFC on the road. I may have to put my "hate" aside for a game.... nah - go Hawks!

That's how I feel...I'm seeing some Seahawks fans on the net bloviating about the disrespect they are getting, being underdogs as a #1 seed against a #6 seed, but it's precisely because of Pittsburgh barelling through the playoffs, beating all the best of the AFC on the road (two easily, the third should've been easier) they they deserve to be favorites...and they are my pick to both win and cover.

boston_aloha 01-23-2006 09:58 PM

Well if I was a Seahawks fan, I'd be happy I'm playing the Steelers instead of the Broncs, Colts, or Pats. I think they match up better against the #6 seed. What would the spread have been against the #1 Colts, or #2 Broncs, or ex-SB Champ Pats? Double digits maybe? I really hope this is a good game. I have a feeling it will be, but yeah, Pitt will most likely cover.
BTW - I hate waiting 2 weeks...

...Steelers beat 2 of those teams, and if they played the Pats in the playoffs they would have beaten them too.

boston_aloha 01-23-2006 10:19 PM

Nah, I don't think so... some teams have other's numbers. Its pointless to argue who would beat who? But I was just making a point about the spread. How the #6 AFC team is favored -3.5 against the #1 NFC team.
Forget who beat who... what it be if it was the #1 AFC against the #1 NFC team? What would that spread of been? Any handicappers out there??? I'd say Colts -10.

Then I guess the Steelers have the "numbers" of the top 3 AFC teams.

boston_aloha 01-23-2006 11:03 PM

Well, it seems EVERYONE has the Colts number in the playoffs. The Steelers have the top 2 numbers. The Pats always seem to beat Pitt too... Who knows, Broncs may have the Pats number now... its just weird how the playoffs repeat themselves sometimes.

The Seahawks will win. Why? You ask. Because nobody exspects them II.

Last underdog to win the SB was Tampa Bay in 2002. Out of 39 SB's only 13 Teams have won as underdogs.

Ohh, it all makes sense now...

SeahawKnDC 01-24-2006 12:24 PM

Dont Even go there with me Jay. I could give you several legit reasons for a Seahawks win. But I will not do that because I will get the same reponses, oh the seahawks didn't do this, they didnt play this team, they didnt score enough points in this game. Oh please!!! Nothing I or any other Hawks fan says will make you and the nation of haters respect them. SO I will let my boyz speak for themselves on the 5th.
